3” backing plate compatible?

Hello, Due to the design of the fanned counterbalance, we do not recommend converting this tool to a 3" backing plate. Our previous generation 6" polisher can be converted, or you could try our G8 Random Orbital Polisher. The G8 comes with a 2" and 3" backing plate, and features a 700-watt motor. Thanks!

Does it include the replacement carbon brushes,14 mm backing plate wrench & the 5 inch backing plate ?

Yes replacement brushes do come with the polisher. Unless you purchase it from a company such as Auto Geek as a bundle you will only get the 6" backing plate. I prefer this machine with a 5 inch plate as do others.

Can you wet sand a boat hull with this ?

I don’t believe so. I have an orbital sander and the Griot’s polisher feels less “aggressive” than the sander.

Backing plate Thread size??

Hello, The spindle thread size is 5/16" - 24. If you are planning on using a backing plate from a different manufacturer, it could cause additional vibration due to differences in weight. Thanks,
