This product really does clear out algae fast!
This stuff is amazing! I have a 40 gallon freshwater tank with lots of tropical fish in it. My tank is well established, but I've been having some issues with algae growing on the tank decorations and on the glass. I do water changes about once a week, I also have a very good quality canister filter. But managing the growth of algae was a major problem. So I bought a bottle of the Algaefix and I used exact as directed on the bottle. Within a few hours my tank was crystal clear. I couldn't believe how fast and efficiently it worked. I'm happy to report that all of my fish are doing very well. This product did not harm them at all. I definitely recommend this to anyone who's having an issue with too much algae growth, just be sure and follow the directions on the amount to use.

Great stuff; works well with no adverse effects
Works better than any other product I've tried to control various forms of algae in a 3000 gallon pond. Water gets and stays clearer than I've seen it previously when using other algae control products. I don't have any fish to be concerned about but it hasn't harmed any of the water lilies or other pond plants. Only downside is for me it can be a bit expensive if I use as much as the directions say every week, so I'll often stretch out the applications to a lesser frequent schedule and I've found a frequency that works well for my situation.

This DOES remove ALGEA without affecting the wildlife - I'm very impressed.
This stuff is fantastic. I have a 7,000 gallon koi pond with 22 koi ranging from 12" to 30" in length. Average is 20". I'm a heavy feeder, I also feed twice per day. The pond is in full sunlight and circulates 8,000 gallons per hour via a 100' long 3' wide river with a 3' wide waterfall. What does all that mean. It means the water get's plenty of oxygen and sunlight and therefore grows green algae by the ton! The normal water color for the past 7 years has been pea green! I have lots of filtration, a huge UV filter and I've used hundreds of dollars of good bacteria. NOTHING kept the algae out for the past 7 years. ----> this year I decided to try a chemical to clear the water or get rid of the pond. I read everything I could find and decided this was the best chemical โexperimentโ: " poly oxyethylene(dimethyliminio)ethylene(dimethyliminio)ethylene dichloride ". This chemical is packaged under several different names and a concentrated version can be purchased at swimming pool suppliers. (concentrated is 20%, much thicker, more like syrup) The chemical kills algae AND causes it to clump and float to the surface as foam. It will clog your pond filter in a blink because of the clumped foam dead algae. Be prepared to clean the filter often. The chemical is "consumed" as it kills algae and my water was so green I added 7 times the dosage over a period of 3 weeks. The color tuned from pea green to a gray green slowly. I had to clean the filter every couple of days for about a month. ===>>> the water is now crystal clear. I now add about 3 ounces every 2 weeks and the water stays crystal clear. Every time I add there's a little foam on the surface, the filter clogs up within 48 hours, I clean it about 60%, not 100%, and I'm good for another 2 weeks. I'm very pleased with the results, ===>> How did the fish and plants do? It never phased them one bit. Not one bit. They didn't come up gulping for oxygen, it didn't faze any of the many frogs or billions of snails that inhabit the river, NONE of the lilies or water lettuce or other plants were affected in any way. I donโt have any experience with other fish other than koi. This is the chemical, sold under several different names: " poly oxyethylene(dimethyliminio)ethylene(dimethyliminio)ethylene dichloride " The dosage will vary by vendor depending on the concentration. The 3oz per 7000 gallons every two weeks I use is a 20% concentration I purchased at a swimming pool supply store sold under a different brand name. I have tried three different brands of this chemical (including this one) and they all work exactly the same. The only difference is the dosage which varies based on the concentration, ranging from 4% to 20%. Attached, 2 pictures, before and 45 days later, after.

Very effective but cause my fish extreme stress
I'm torn when it comes to this product. I started using Algaefix last year, and the results were truly incredible. Overnight (quite literally) my pond went from a soupy, stringy mess to see-to-the-bottom clear. So of course, I bought more of this for the 2015 season. After my first application this year, I'm wondering if they switched to a new formulation. Here's why: Our pond had a pretty heavy algae bloom this spring. The water was green and like last year, I had a lot of string algae and floating algae. I dosed the pond with the same amount of Algaefix that I used last year and like before, the water cleared up significantly overnight. However, this time around, my fish were VERY negatively affected. I have a few small koi and a few goldfish in my pond and when I checked on them the morning after treating, they were all hanging listlessly at the surface or on the floor of the pond. Those at the top weren't gasping, just hanging there. They were so sluggish that I was actually able to reach in and pick one up with the fish putting up almost no struggle! I thought for sure they would die. I have a waterfall, a spitter, and two aerators in my pond, so this was clearly not a result of having too little oxygen (something the directions warn of for this product). About three days after treating, the fish are now moving around again. I'm torn as to what to do and how to rate this product. On one hand, it does work, and it works very well. However, I'm concerned that continued use may stress or even kill my fish. If you have fish or other aquatic animals, you might consider trying something else first. If you're fighting a really bad algae infestation or don't have aquatic animals, though, this is admittedly a good product for removing algae quickly and efficiently.

Works great.
This really works because I pour a lot into the pond with out of control algae growth. I didn't even read the instruction, just dumped a cup or two. The algae turned brown and completely stopped. I haven't seen any more growing since about a month after using the product. Two weeks after, I added some fish in there and they are OK.

Ineffective and detrimental
This is without a doubt the worst pond algaecide product Iโve ever purchased. I used this the day after the water feature guys cleaned and filled the pond. Three days later I added a bit more. The next day the pond water was green - not cloudy - green. A guest said the pond looks like the Chicago River on St. Patrickโs Day. It does. The pond water looks as though itโs dyed. I called the 800 number on package and I have left two messages. No one has responded. Caveat emptor!!!!!!!!!!! I had to give a one star rating in order to post the review, this algaecide is a waste money.
