VERY impressed!
I originally gave this a 1 star review because they picture the RL that locks out and I got the R. Doesn't matter really because i never use a lock out. And you WILL have to get mounting hardware or use what you have on an an existing shock.HOWEVER I am now giving this shock a 5 star review. Got this as a backup to use while FOX Float Factory DPS is being repaired. That's a $479 shock. Rode the RockShox Monarch R today and was REALLY impressed with how it felt! I've been MTBing 30 years and hammer single track pretty hard. Cant speak to longevity of this shock yet but the 18 miles i hammered it today if felt amazing.I also got a Rockshox Recon Silver fork to put on a backup bike thinking it would feel like junk because it was $289. Nope. Actually feels as good as the $1000 fork I replaced! Probably have 500 or so miles on it with no problems.Impressed with performance of these low-prices Rockshox products

Not so fast.
Thought I was ordering the RL model with the (L) lock out mode, but received the basic R model. Nice try.

This shock in the picture is a Monarch RL...
I thought I was ordering a Monarch RL, but what I got in the mail was the Monarch R. The picture on Amazon is of the RL, not the R. This is somewhat deceptive. Read the fine print I guess, buyer beware. Three stars because of the somewhat deceptive practice in my opinion. The "R" version of the Shock works fine for my bike luckily so I'll live with it...

This shock rocks !
This was a replacement for the stock coil rear on my Diamondback Recoil 29er.The package also included a pump which was a plus.Performance is excellent and is FAR more responsive than the stock coil. It should also be noted that I had no issues pumping this shock within its 275 psi tolerance to achieve proper 30% sag.In summary, I recommend this product for XC and single track enthusiasts.

Not as pictured
Every picture shows a shock with a lockout switch and this doesn't have one

Works amazing on trails
Although I didn’t buy this shock on Amazon, it came stock on my 2017 diamondback atroz comp and it handles amazingly on any terrain I throw at it. It’s incredibly lightweight and is very easy to use as well.
