Just moved from the midwest to a new home in the south. I did a lot of reasearch on my new Bermudagrass lawn vs the Fescue lawn I was accustomed to tending. My reading helped me understand that the right fertilizer formulation (NPK) and coverage (small, uniform granules that distribute evenly) are important keys to success. The Andersons Professional w/Surge (and their PGF fertilizer) are great formulations for Bermudagrass and I noticed the difference from store brands after just a single application. Much more consistent coverage and faster greening. The verdict is still out on the effectiveness of the granular Surge (so only 4 stars) but overall, believe they are the right fertilizer formulation and consistency for my lawn. Will be a regular customer.

Andersons Surge is a great product. Matter of fact, all Andersons products are great. Let me qualify. I am a certified sports turf grass manager who works in major league baseball on the grounds crew. We use Andersons products on our field every year in addition to several other products. With that said, you can have a lawn that looks great, almost as good as a professional sports field. However, it is a process and can be expensive at times. One application of fertilizer WILL NOT solve your problems. Fertilizer is a year round process. Here is my schedule. I use Andersons pre-emergance with barricade in the Spring. The first application is a little on the heavy side around March, the second application is standard around the second to third week of Aptil, the last application is late May. Depending on where you're located will determine a fourth application. If you're in a warm season area ot transition area, that is all you need. Don't put any other fertilizer down in the summer, unless it is strictly micro nutrients such as iron, maganses, calcium and such. If in a cool season area such as the northern states, one more application may be necessary. In the fall, I use Anderson Surge or Tri-Mec. I put down two standard applications. Once in the early to mid October, the second in late mid to late November. Leave the grass alone at that point. This needs to be done every year to suppress and kill weeds and push a green lawn. After you have most of the weeds under control, you can cut back on the fertilizer application.

This product maybe deserve 5 stars or a 1 but I'll never know. Upon receiving this I was reading the bag where it stated it's illegal to use or sell in Nassau or Suffolk county. That wasn't mentioned in the online Amazon description. I live in one of the country's listed and assume it has something to do with the depth of our water table. I wanted to kill my weeds not my community.
