Great Illustrations by N. C. Wyeth (Dover Fine Art, History of Art)

There are probably more comprehensive books on the great N.C. Wyeth, but not ones that give as much value for your money.... This Dover edition is a great collection of Wyeth work in one relatively slim and lightweight (but heavy enough paper that you don't see the image on the other side bleeding through) book... it takes up less space and is far more affordable than massive hardcover tomes that cost an arm and a leg, but it still gives a very good overview of this famous and prolific early 20th century illustrator. The colors look vibrant and the images sharp. I highly recommend this book.

56 mostly full page, excellent colored reprints. His illustrations still encourage the young to read great books.

Great book with a very interesting variety of Illustrations. I don't give 5 stars because in my opinion the quality of the reproductions is not consistent. There are a set of reproductions with great quality but a considerable number of illustrations could have a better image quality.

The paintings quality could be better .. especially for an art book…

This book contains a good collection of some of N.C. Wyeth's finest work. The reproductions are very good and, having seen many of the original paintings, give a good idea of his color and light. Thus is a nice introduction to his work and a look at what great illustration is. If you collect books on N.C., art or illustration, you'll appreciate this book.

Other reviewers seem to disagree, but I found this book very disappointing. Instead of N.C.Wyeth's bright clear color and sharp illustration, the reproductions here are dull and muddy. It's impossible even to see what some of them depict. With the full-page format, I expected some great pictures, but this is just sad.

The book would be just amazing if the print quality would not be so bad. The paper is cheap and the colors are off, contrast is low. Dont recommend this book.

Per quel che costa questo bel libro della Dover non si può certo pretendere di più, il confronto con libri di valore triplo ovviamente è inutile anche se posso affermare che la stampa in definitiva non è affatto male. Ho avuto la possibilità di confrontare alcune immagini con quelle che compaiono su un libro che raccoglie tutti e tre gli artisti della famiglia Wyeth, posso dire che sull'edizione Dover è leggermente evidente il retino di stampa ma la resa cromatica è quasi la stessa. Lo consiglio quindi per tutti coloro che vogliano avere un buon compromesso tra prezzo e qualità.

国内で入手できる当作家の洋書を長く収集してきましたが、未見の作品も多く、その点では購入の価値が有ります。一方で、撮影がピンボケな絵が多く、画肌(マチエール)が判り辛いのが残念です。

Wyeth is a major painter, not only an illustrator but a real master. The book is a good window to his work and invites to a more deep investigation. A very satisfying purchase!!!!!

This book is terrible. The print quality are worse than a cheap inkjet printer on computer paper. The pages are really thin, thinner than cheap printer paper you would use at home. The publisher should be embarrassed. At least I now know to never again purchase a Dover published book again.
