Review: Extremely easy setup. Bad Instructions. - I like that this product, once installed, works. There isn't anything to configure, update, or maintain; you just plug everything in and it works. I read another review that said you have to have direct cable lines and no splitters for this to work, but that isn't true. I have 4 of these on opposite ends of my house with multiple splitters (at least 4 that I know Xfinity installed) in my home for TVs and the cable modem and these things perform just as they should. That person likely has the wrong type of splitter, as there are some that will filter out MoCA device frequencies. Per ActionTec's site, splitter requirements are as follows: The splitter needs to be: MoCa compliant Bi-directional 5-1675 Mhz 6kV Coax ports are -3.5 d(b loss) My speed using wireless repeaters was about 25Mbps max, but using these, I am getting about 95Mbps (average) when I do a speed test to Xfinity. Keep in mind that I am being limited by my computer's 10/100 ethernet connection and which tops out at 100Mbps AND the limited speed that Xfinity provides to my home. Connection stability and speed are both outstanding and unparalleled. The only negative I have is the poorly written instruction manual. It was either written by someone who isn't a native English speaker or someone with severe ADD, as they seem to be written out of order and don't make sense. Luckily for me, the instructions aren't really required as the setup is very straightforward and basically idiot proof, although some basic computer network knowledge is useful. You plug the cable in, the ethernet in, the power in, and you should be up and running within seconds. I didn't use the instructions to set mine up, and the only reason I know the instructions are poorly written is because I was wondering what the MPS button on the side was for. That's another reason that I believe that the instructions are poorly written because there is absolutely NO documentation on what that button does. I went to their website and this is what the MPS button does according to ActionTec, "The MPS (MoCA Protected Setup) button allows the ECB6250's to secure the data connection. This is only compatible with other ECB6250 devices. It will not secure on a mixed MoCA network." Just so everyone is aware of the functionality of that button and the limitation in the event they plan to use a mixed MoCA network. The only unknown is how long they will last. Everything electronic dies at one point or another and since I have never heard of ActionTec, I wonder how long these will actually last. For $400 (I bought four at $199/pair), if they last me at least five years, then I feel like I got my monies worth; but I hope they last longer than that.
Review: These work and are worth the money, quality product. - WORKS! WOOHOO! Something that does actually work as advertised. I remodeled my home 25 years ago, and for one reason or another my Master Bedroom ended up with no Ethernet. Plenty of Coax though, for the now unused Satellite TV. YES, you can actually connect these two boxes to each end of a Coax run and send Ethernet from one end to the other, that's basically it. You must by-pass your Multiswitch though, the Ethernet signal will not passthrough the big box you might have in your bedroom closet, attic, wherever it is, that acts as a distrobution point from your old satellite dish. It's EASY. They send you 2 splitters that you can use as a joiner/union/barrel connector to join 2 cable ends together. One end connects to your router with the included ethernet cord that plugs into the box. (in my case I connected to my router in my livingroom cabinet, then connected the box to the coax that used to feed my Satellite receiver. Then, at the multiswitch, I found the run from the living room and joined that run to the Master Bedroom run (this is where I joined the Livingroom and Bedroom runs together, then where the coax comes out of the wall to the bedroom sat receiver I connected the second box with the coax cable they sent with the box, then used the second ethernet cable they provided to my streaming device (Nvidea Sheild). Now I can stream hard-wired from my PLEX Server in my house (or anything else) to my 4K TV. My speed nearly DOUBLED the wireless speed I was using with a range extender from the upstairs bedroom. SWEET!! Sorry for the long ramble, hope this helps someone. THESE DO WORK, NOT JUNK.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What does "requires that your router support bonded moca 2.0" mean? can't i just use ethernet to ethernet via coax and get full speed bridging?**
A: That statement is a little confusing. 
If you only want to purchase one bonded MOCA adapter to extend the network via coax, you will need your fios/cable modem with router to support MOCA 2.0 bonded.  
If you are using the two adapters to extend out the network to two different locations via coax,  you will need your fios/cable modem with router to support MOCA 2.0 bonded.
Otherwise like most of us, we will need to use one of these adapters at the off the shelf router because most of the certified Doscis 3.1 cable modems will not have a built in router that also supports bonded Moca 2.0.

**Q: I already have moca built in, can I use each of these in other rooms to bring high speed data to them instead of using one to connect the router?**
A: MoCA acts like an ethernet bridge, meaning it "converts" Ethernet to coax and back again, so that devices connected appear to do so over Ethernet (except for delay differences). If you have MoCA in your house, and it uses the LAN channels (not WAN), and uses no privacy, then this device can connect to that and appear to be part of the same network. For example, for those with Verizon FiOS, they have two MoCA channels; one WAN (C4 - ONT to the router) and one LAN channel (D-channel). The WAN channel has privacy enabled, and most commercially-available devices won't communicate on that WAN channel. However, the LAN channel has privacy disabled, and most commercially-available devices will communicate on that channel. The router actually has two MoCA transfceivers (one for WAN, one for LAN). If you have a MoCA device that already communicates over LAN (i.e., Tivo box), then it can connect to the router, and likewise, you can use one of these devices (Actiontec) to join to the MoCA network to provide Ethernet to another room. The limit for MoCA 1.1 is 16 devices, AFAIK, but this is a MoCA 2.0 device and I can't recall that device limit, but it has to be at least 16 devices. Note that the router serves as a device, and is most likely the NC (Network Coordinator), depending on your coax topology and best signal device.

**Q: What comes in the box?**
A: Two Ethernet to coax adapter boxes, two Ethernet cables, two short coax cables with female connectors and a coax splitter.

**Q: Do any of these adapters allow input via Ethernet? All diagrams appear that input is via Coax only. My modem and current wiring is ethernet only.**
A: I guess it depends on how you're defining "input".  The idea is that you're converting RJ-45 to Coax, connecting via Coax then converting back to RJ-45.  So if your Modem is Ethernet (RJ-45) and you connect that to the Actiontec and connect the Actiontec to Coax then at some other point in your Coax wiring, you connect the other Actiontec and connect its RJ-45 to something (let's say a network switch with a couple of computers on it) then those devices can talk Ethernet to your modem via the Coax wiring by virtue of the Actiontec converting RJ-45 to Coax back to RJ-45.  Does that help?

It worked flawlessly on the first attempt right out of the box, effortlessly bridging a 160-foot stretch of RG6 coaxial cable across my house (measured via a simple TDR technique). I am running a multi-gigabit cable connection, and this adapter cleanly delivers the full 1.45 Gbps of speed arriving from my modem with zero bottlenecking.
