I use it to play my saxophones and clarinet. It adjusts easily and for me, exactly the right height with my music stand. I did not find any issues like bad welds on my chair and I inspected it well. The welds are all secured. The seat is firm but not so firm as to be uncomfortable, at least for me, as I am a large person. It went together quickly with only 5 castor inserts and 4 bolts for the seat and it comes with an allen wrench for the bolt tightening. The castors roll easily over my studio floor which is vinyl covered hardwood.
