An enchanting tome filled with the magic of creativity, color and inspiration and loving support that I experienced being in the authors online painting courses over the last few years. It really captures the sense of community and cross inspiration that occurred in this tight knit group of emerging artists. We found our voices in this wonderful environment facilitated by Alena - and to see it all together is extraordinary and inspires me to keep going with all that I learned. I have watched all these women blossom and grow and sparkle and shine and how nice to now have this book to commemorate it all. Being an art teacher I will immediately install it in my classrooms for all to see and be inspired by as well ! Kudos, Alena! - and all my A Year of Painting sisters!

This book is filled to brim with inspiration! It is visually stunning and there is so much here ~ it will keep your creative juices flowing for well over a year. Alena is an incredibly generous teacher and wise soul, so you're going to find a lot of practical information on color theory, composition and materials... as well as prompts to deepen your creative expression and help you make art that you are going to fall in love with.

This is a wonderful book with a range of fabulous techniques that apply to painting and, in my case, mixed media journals. Alena Hennessy, as always, provides inspiration and guidance through the pages of her books, the images inspiring and motivating - there is immense detail in her work. If you have an interest in intuitive painting and whimsical art, you will enjoy this book. Well done on a beautiful volume, Alena.

It's a good book and being spiral bound is a big help if you want to work the suggestions to the letter. My only complaint its the images presented are mostly very sweet so if you like edgy, this isn't for you. The images are attractive and not overhelming and should be a great help when faced with a blank paper and nothing im mind but the urge to make something wonderful.

Beauty abounds in this gorgeous book by Alena Hennessy. There's an incredible amount of inspiration, and the step by step teachings by Alena are easy to follow and very helpful. This book is a joy to own and would make a beautiful gift.

One of the few books I will give FIVE stars to - finally a book that gives some basic steps to accomplish an artists painting. NOT for copying someone else - but when you can follow the way of another artist - it HELPS find your way. One thing a lot of people don't think about is the amount of expense that goes into paint products - and any artist well knows that it can be a long journey (unless you are rich and supported by your partner/husband/mate/boyfriend) I'm not. So when another artist is compassionate enough to show How To's AND steps for us Visual Folks to SEE - , it saves the struggling artist from making expensive mistakes. THAT is when it truly makes a difference...and for that I am Grateful. Let's face it, not every one is going to get famous doing Art work (like the folks in this book, or the author)... but a little Help in this regard goes a long way for us Wannabees. Or those who venture into the art field late in life. I always had it in me - but never had the affordability until now @ 65. No longer any one to take care of...but ME But Trust me, this Old Flower is Blossoming!

Excellent book to inspire, instruct and motivate anyone interested in acrylic painting. Whether beginner or experienced, this book will be a great reference tool. The photos and paper quality are stunning. Buy it, you will be glad you did! .

Fab - best book like this and I have a lot! spiral binding handy. lots of other artists work to admire. hints and tips as well as step by step. good size.
