Love.
This is such a handy contraption. I must say it does indeed seem a bit overpriced, however, finding the appropriate adapter, faucet switch, length of hose, a matching vac hose, and the stop valve to create your own would be such a hassle, and possibly quite expensive as well. There's a super convenient stop switch at the hoover end, as well as one on the sink end, and it's a lifesaver that the hoover ended one is right on hand to either pause hoovering or pause refilling. It's nice that this has been pre-configured, all set and ready to go. I'm pretty sure what you're paying for is the design of this product, not the materials. It's competitors are all in a similar price range as well.I used it for the first time today. I quickly found the correct screw-on adapter for our kitchen faucet, hooked it up and played around with it to figure out what all the bits do, and I was promptly able to begin my water change. So long as your aquarium is higher up than your faucet, this thing has some SERIOUS suction power. It hoovered 14 litres in about 2 minutes. I'll have to remember to turn the tap down so it's slower next time! Refilling was just as simple. I spent most of the time just getting the water temp right coming out of the faucet before flipping the refill switch, and the rest was a breeze. The whole process is pretty quick, especially compared to the bucket method. We have a separate hot water tank for our mixer tap, and the fish are not bothered at all from any hot water tank contaminants, which was one of my concerns with this. Also remember to dechlorinate your tank for the replacement amount BEFORE pumping in the tap water, otherwise your fish my get some exposure to the chlorine coming in. I personally use seachem prime, which takes care of any heavy metals plus other bits too.Over all a great product, well designed and I'm quite happy with it.

Worth it
We have a 330 litre tank. It's a good product that we would recommend. Came with plenty of tap attachments so didn't need anything etc. It also doesn't have to waste water, once the tap has been turned on the suction of water out of the tank has begun so works fine without running wasted water and you can even take it off the taps and fill a bucket up to clean the filter media. Overall it's a simple and effective product. Definitely agree a thermometer would be a good design function and surely could be included at this price! Would I buy it again? Yes definitely as going out to fetch the garden hose to empty the tank or do water changes was a pain, not to mention frustrating pumping the gravel cleaners to try and get them started. Also storing the long tube was a task and trying to pump the water out when it was near the bottom of the tank, during a previous relocation was near impossible. We have just moved our tank again hence buying this and it was a doddle!

A seal for my aquarium ......cleaner
Came with a number of fittings for the tap to get it working.... however should have come with a rubber washer for in between the universal tap outer compression connector and the white nylon connector before it attaches to the Venturi (that has a washer). Luckily it was over the sink and not spraying out too badly but Iโll have to try and find one even though it should be included in my opinion as thereโs no other way to get a seal.Good points - everything else. The quality of the pipes etc was very good, not thin tubing to kink. I could easily adjust the water being drawn in by the valve control by the gravel vac instead of going back to the sink tap. So glad I invested in this, saves so much time. Filling and draining my tank was so easy and quick. The siphon strength was very good without my sink tap all the way on. Filling back up was simple, I ran the tap with a thermometer underneath to get the correct temperature, added prime to the tank, lifted up and turned the tap outlet and in about 5 minutes 100 litres was put back in.Shame about the washer but Iโd still buy it again even knowing it needs one bought after. I would recommend to anyone. Itโs quicker, saves getting towels out across the floor, and makes it as easy a job as it could ever be.

Great products - my trial and error tips included here
Having spent years lugging heavy buckets of water around, water damaging carpets and aquarium stands, I kick myself for not discovering this sooner. This item is dead simple to operate and has very clear instructions although I would recommend purchasing the brass tap connected as the plastic one it is provided with saw about 8 uses before becoming useless. For those concerned about adding water straight from the tap, I share your concerns. I have tried a couple methods to combat this;1. When adding water back to the tank I took the siphon end and placed it in a 25l water container, I then dosed with water conditioner (mine being Seachem Prime) added a heater and airline to the container and let it mature before adding back to the tank. I had a few containers set up for this function.2. The instructions claim that water is aerated as it is added from the tap, I believe this to be partially true so used a syringe to slowly add drops of Prime as the water re entered the tank. Once the tank was full I then dosed with water conditioner for the whole size of the aquarium. To make sure that any untreated water did not enter the filter and kill the good bacteria I shut off the Aqua-Stop valve on my Fluval 306. After dosing with Prime and allow the water to circulate for a time I then turned the filter back on.The second method was the easiest and I feel confident that it is safe for the fish, I keep Discus and they do not appear to be affected by this.

Didn't help

If this didn't exist I wouldn't be in the aquarium hobby!
This product quite simply has made my aquarium hobby easy!I simply attach the connector from the 6m (maybe 7m?) hose to my tap (I had to purchase a separate brass adapter), and the vacuum created draws water from the aquarium down the sink. Then to refill water to the aquarium I simply switch the valve position and water goes from the tap to the aquarium - I put in an appropriate water conditioner to the aquarium water during this process and the tap I use allows for the correct temperature. I have been using this for about 2 years and if I had to do the whole manual syphon with a hose and empty buckets thing, I would have packed it in.I have a 200ltr aquarium, so the water change with the python makes it quick and very easy. Good for siphoning the substrate too.I have attached a photo to show that my aquarium is in good condition and the fish are super healthy. I will provide an update with a video of the python in use when I next do a water change.Pros:- long hose- easy set up- quick to drain and return water- shut off valve at nozzle end- nozzle is large and provides visibility of what is being vacuumedCons:- expensive for what it is but definitely worth the money- lack of adapters. The plastic adapter works but is not greatI hope this helps. Happy water changing!

Essential for large aquariums.
Moved house and had to buy a longer version of the tank python. Wouldn't go without one as they make water changing super easy.Couple of tips, first is we use a pair of old cut of tights stretched over the water out pipe to make sure no fish swim/get sucked in to and secure it on with a hairband. Second tip is if you have a loose substrait is to do the same when filling the tank as the flow back I to the tank with mains water pressure have heavily disturb the substrait and make a mess of your tank. So having something slow down/dissipate the water removes this issue.

Quick and efficient
Does the job either using a tap or screws onto a pump. Worth the money as very solid and well made. Good extension options too. The tap fit works fine with outside taps (the info is clear regarding the fittings) but thatโs not a problem as if I want to do a quick change I use a pump. Flow is excellent much better than using buckets.

Perfect!
I have been playing with fitting my Python to my various faucets inside for some time now, and although I did get it to work, I finally decided to get this extension so that I can use the outside hose connection for the Python, which fits perfectly, rather than messing with the inside faucets.TOTALLY worth the extra $$, now all the water drips are outside, my Python screws on to the hose connection without any more fuss, wish I'd done this sooner :)Bottom line, if your Python does not fit your inside faucet, see how far you have to go to reach the hose connection on the outside of your hose and get the extension. Sure it's a little extra money spent on the Python but it'll save you some head aches and F-bombs in the future as your fish tank cleaning will go so much smoother :)(PS. And my fish tank temperature does not drop much from not adjusting the water temperature, which I obviously can't do with the outdoor faucets..... per the "fish people" in the store, it's nothing more than what an occasional rainfall would do to the water out in nature and so far, my fishies don't seem to mind the occasional and very small drop in temperature when I fill their tank)

Lo consiglio
Va bene per rendere i cambi d'acqua facili ma farei attenzione alla misura del vostro rubinetto. Essendo un prodotto americano non si incastra come si deve e quindi mi sono dovuta arrangiare.

Perfect
I had purchased the original length which worked perfect, however after relocating my beautiful fishes upstairs I needed more length. My only concern was the possibility of leaks. Concerns put to rest. The attachment was perfect and operated as if one peice, I actually just leave it attached now. Really good product, makes the job easier and gets it done.
