The best way to remove alcohol from gasoline is to add an amount of water equal to the alcohol content. Gasoline and alcohol don't mix very well, but water and alcohol just love each other, so when water is added to 10% gasoline (10% ethanol blend), it bonds with the water molecules, and due to its heavier weight, drops to the bottom of the container, forming a distinct line of separation between the water/alcohol blend and the now pure gasoline. So to make sure you get all of the alcohol out of the gasoline you have to make sure you are adding enough water to equal or better the volume of the alcohol. Putting 100ml of 10% gasoline in a test tube, and then adding 20ml more water will cause the contents of the tube to rise to the 120ml line. After 30 or 40 minutes of being undisturbed, you can see the amount of alcohol by looking at where the line of separation is. It is very easy to see.
