How close to 90 degrees is the bracket when locked open? I want to use it to make a folding extension for a table saw so accuracy is important

Mine is virtually spot on 90 degrees when locked open. Useful fitting tip - as the brackets are relatively small, it is important that the surface to which they are fixed is flat and any shelf fitted does not overlap the brackets at the front by too much. Hope this is helpful.
