Didn't leak, kept cast dry at the river for a week!
This was a total BLESSING for us this summer! My 7 year old ended her school year with a broken arm then 2 months later broke the same arm again! This all happened the week before we left for summer vacation at the river. I went to a local durable medical equipment company however they did't have her size in stock but the price was the same as here on Amazon so I ordered here with my Prime to get expedited shipping so it came in time for our trip. After reading reviews I was skeptical and hesitant to wait until our trip to try this out so the night it arrived I put it on her and made her lay in a bath for about half hour to test. I figured if it leaked and her cast got wet i'd rather have it happen here so I could get a new cast before our trip than while traveling to find an ortho to recast. It worked perfectly! I followed the advice of another reviewer and put a long tube sock on her arm over the cast. This enabled ease in putting on and taking off. She wore the cast cover for 7 days straight and spent about 8 hours a day in the river, jumping in and out, picking shells and rocks out of the bottom, swimming, paddle boarding, boating, tubing and more. Not once did we have a problem with leaking. The cast cover worked perfectly each and every time without fail. I did make her take 5 minute breaks at least once an hour to "air" it out. The directions I believe suggest every 45 minutes but I found once an hour for 5-10 min worked best for us. I'd take the cover off after drying her upper arm, remove it, put it in the sun and take the sock off and also place in the sun to dry out. Then we would put it back on and off she would go back out into the water. You can see in the pics nothing stopped her from having a good time. I highly recommend using a tube sock each and every time, airing it out every hour and making sure you get the correct fit. My daughter is 7 and you can see her size in the pics, approx 61 pounds. She wore an adult long size small. It fit perfectly. It did stretch out some over the course of the week and she probably could've gotten by with the extra small however I think length would have been compromised. As the week wore on we simply inflated it more and if she got too wild in the water we would check it frequently to make sure it was still in a suction mode vs, inflated and allowing water/air inside. Don't lose the little bulb suction you deflate with. We kept it with us at all times and it was simple enough for her to use on her own. Put on and take off is a two person job. She was able to help me but couldn't' have done it alone (1 person wearing the cast cover and putting it on themselves). Overall this was the best investment i've made in a long time. She used it after we came home during bath time and to swim a couple more times during the summer. It was worth the money and i'd purchase again in a heart beat.

and now have to pay to ship it back- basically cost me $20 just to realize this wasn't a good idea. If your kid is determined to
One star because zero stars is not an option. My son cried trying to put this damn thing on, and I almost had to cut it off to remove it, it hurt him so badly. There is no way it can be worth going through the pain of putting this thing on and off just to go swimming. Put a shopping bag with a rubber band over your kid's cast for shower or bath, and just wait a month for the cast to be removed for them to get in the pool. I had this sent next-day air, and now have to pay to ship it back- basically cost me $20 just to realize this wasn't a good idea. If your kid is determined to go swimming, then I suppose this would work (it is definitely tight enough), but they're not going to enjoy the pinching from the tight, skin ripping rubber. Also, the picture on the box shows a boy with a half cast even though it contained a full arm cast. So if your kid's injury is to the lower arm only, you need a half cast not a full cast, and the photo is deceiving. Not sure who would plan on swimming with a full cast up to the shoulder, which seems more like floating with one arm. If you're thinking of getting this just for showering, there's no way anyone would be willing to go through the pain of pulling this on and off just for that, and you'll have wasted $40 just like I did.

This saved my daughters summer!
This product is amazing! I would give it more stars If I could. First off, definitely use this with a sock that covers the whole cast. It makes putting it on and taking it off a ton easier, it is more comfortable for the wearer, and it will absorb moisture (sweat or random drops). Secondly, before I bought this we used duct tape and bags around my daughters arm for two showers and one trip to the pool and all those times she kept her arm out of the water and still water got in. I saw products in the drug stores but they were pretty much the same thing. I couldn't see myself or her, 9 years old, putting up with this for weeks AND it was summer vacation and she was having no fun having to be so careful. I did a lot of internet research and made it to the manufacturers site, where I put in her measurements and gave me the correct size. It is a must to get it the right size! It was expensive on the manufacturer's site, so I used amazon. We got it quick and immediately put it to use. We used it in the pool everyday (and she could swim underwater completely submerged with the cover on!), the shower everyday (using both hands in the water), the beach (it kept out sand and water allowing for lots of sand castles, yay!), the hot tub occasionally (again fully submerged) and only had a minor leak one time, which we caught, put a new sock on and went back in the water. We also used it at a water park, where it held up really well. It did have a tiny leak on a water slide, but since we used a sock, the cast was fine and we dried the sock and put it back on and went back into the water fun. It worked beautifully the entire time she had her cast on (4 1/2 weeks) and now the kids play with it. Now, while I was doing research a lot of reviews either said the sleeve tore, or got damaged. We used that cover all the time and she is a very active child, however I made very sure she stayed away from the edges of the pool.

This is an amazing product and worth every penny! My son broke his wrist right before summer vacation. He was so upset that he would be able to swim - not to mention we boat quite a bit as well. We also had a camping trip planned so swimming would be part of that too. I am happy to report that this cast cover works so well. No water got in at all. He swam his heart out with this thing on and no water whatsoever got in. The seal is very strong. Excellent, excellent product. Thank you.

Shipped quickly, found that the elastic band around the upper arm was way too tight, cutting off blood circulation to the hand. Wanted to return it but there is no return policy on this item. I am a small to medium sized girl and a size medium should not be so tight around the upper arm. IF you want to buy this product, maybe try the largest size or make sure you have really small biceps. The arm bad is for a child but the hand portion was for an adult. Cannot recommend this product.
