I fitted my new stock to a 45 year old standard barrel Ruger and it fits like a glove. It will take either barrel...just follow the instructions that come with the new stock. It comes set up for the standard barrel but it can be changed for the heavy barrel. **Q: In what country is this stock made?** A: I am not 100% but pretty sure they are made in Cheyenne Wyoming but their headquarters is located in Austin Tx. **Q: Will this fit the thin carbine barrel** A: Yes it will work. I think it has a piece that can be flipped over to go from carbine barrel to bull barrel.
