    Accurate and cost effective!

I have a One Touch Ultra 2 meter and have been using these test strips for about a month.I hesitated to buy them after reading some of the reviews but each test strip has worked perfectly with no error codes. These have been a godsend, considering I would have paid over $200 through my health insurance .

As accurate as OneTouch Ultra strips, just a lot cheaper

Just discovered GenUltimate test strips. I've been using the OneTouch Ultra meters since they first came on the market with OT Ultra strips. In my experience, those tend to be accurate in the +/- 5-10 percent range. Having had Type 1 diabetes for decades, I've discovered, then read about, how the test is done is the major variable. For example, after pricking your finger and producing a drop of blood, the time that drop is exposed to the oxygen in the air until put on the test strip will affect the meter reading. My first order of GenUltimate strips just arrived. Expiration date is 20 months from now. The big change is each vial of strips may have a different code. Some people who report inaccurate readings may have forgotten to change the code on their meter when switching from OneTouch strips (which for the last several years has always been code 25) to GenUltimate strips. People sometimes may also have hand lotions or other coatings on the skin that can affect blood glucose tests.I did several tests with OneTouch Ultra strips, using a new finger prick and new drop of blood each time, exposing the drop to air for about 5 seconds from prick to strip. The OneTouch strips yielded results that were all about +/- 5%, one was +7%. That is not too bad -- my target is 100, so if it reads 93 or if it reads 107, I am unlikely to change my fast-acting dose or what I'm planning to eat.I then did several tests with GenUltimate strips. Again, I got the drop of blood to the strip in about 5 seconds, and I did a new finger prick for each test. I had not only similar margins of error in the 5-7% plus or minus range, but the average of the GenUltimate tests was remarkably close the average of the OneTouch tests. Of course, I used the same meter for both sets of tests. Ideally, I'd have liked to do several hundred tests, but I really can't afford to ;<)So I am confident these strips are as accurate as the original OneTouch strips, and the main difference is the much lower price for the GenUltimate test strips.PS comparing home meters to test lab results is tricky. My Endocrinologist points out they use a different test method and will typically be somewhat different from home meter tests. The goal is to have consistent testing, make consistent decisions regarding insulin and food, check A1C periodically and if your A1C satisfies your doctor, keep doing what you are doing. In my case, I'll be doing that with GenUltimate strips.

    GREAT PRODUCT!!!

This product gave me the edge I needed to have to not give up doing my bloodwork, while my pharmacy & insurance company argued about whether I was eligible or not for my glucose strips. By the way, I was eligible & did get them from my insurance after 2 weeks of talking to line staff, I asked for a supervisor who couldn't understand why they didn't give them to me. In the meantime, you gave me an affordable way to stay on track with my blood sugars. So, you are a SUPERSTAR in my opinion.
