taste like a dry biscuit
This pasty dessert tastes like a dry biscuit. It's sweet, dry and crunchy. It's supposed to be eaten with syrup, which it does not come with. However, I find it sweet enough that I can just eat it as is. It's quite enjoyable to eat. It reminds me of a biscuit I used to like as a kid but this biscuit is a bit sweet and not as good. I don't think I want to go through the trouble of making syrup for this, it's just not worth the effort.

Kral Sekerpare, Easy, Practical, Delicious Dry Pastry Dessert...
I think that if I had grown up eating this as a treat, I would be more into these little cookies. They came in the package as can be seen in my pics. I tried a little broken piece off of one before soaking these and it tasted very much like a vanilla wafer cookie (the kind I use to make a banana pudding recipe). I used the recipe listed on the product page to make the syrup and soaked these cookies in it. I had to watch and guess about when to stop soaking, as there was syrup left over, but if I'd left them to soak much longer, I suspect the cookies would have started disintegrating altogether. So I removed them from the syrup and served them as a treat to my family. None of us were very excited about these, as we found them to be a bit plain. But these are Turkish, so I think maybe this is the kind of thing that each family that is familiar with these probably has their own recipe and way of jazzing them up. I'm giving these a 5 because I found nothing wrong with these cookies, I think we just needed the right recipe to liven them up. And these should be fine for those who know what to do with them.

Rock hard
Disclaimer: these are my unbiased opinions as a typical culturally-oblivious American. Whil I enjoy trying new things, my personal taste may differ wildly from someone who’s grown up with traditional foods like these. That said, these cookies arrived half-smashed and very hard. It was hard to tell from the pictures but never having had them before I assumed they were soft. Definitely not. Also not a “pastry” in my opinion. Texture is that of a dry crumbly graham cracker/cookie. The flavor is slightly sweet but mostly very bland by American standards where everything is extremely sugar-heavy. They’re not gluten free fyi, if that’s important to you. These are definitely better soaked in a sugar syrup(not included) but weren’t my cup of tea nonetheless. To each his own.

Fell Far Short of Expectations
I prepared this pastry dessert according to instructions. Boiled some lemon sugar water, poured it over the pastries and let it soak. The end result was a syrupy, soggy and sickeningly sweet disaster. Neither my husband, myself or any of our three grandchildren wanted more than a "taste." These pastries are better eaten without tampering, but even then, they are dry, bland, and taste a bit stale. They have the right amount of sweetening though. For comparison, it's like a dry, but not hard, version of an old Stella Doro. Understanding that taste is subjective, I've given these pastries 2 stars.

Doesn't come with the syrup
The title mentions syrup. The cookies don't come with the syrup. The package directs you to cook sugar, water, and lemon and to soak the cookies in it for an hour. I don't have any lemon, and the cookies are sweet enough without adding more sugar. Also, I think that after an hour the cookies would get pretty soggy, and I'm not a fan of soggy cookies. They're very dry in the package. They're the kind of cookie you could dip in milk without it getting soggy. I did try them with some other things, since I didn't have the lemon. I had some mixed milk, sugar, and vanilla left over from preparing another product, so I tried dipping the cookies in that, but not for an hour. I also tried them with coconut, which is mentioned on the cookie package. Of all the versions I tried, the best was just plain out of the package with nothing added.

Gourmet delight - Turkish dessert food served with hot lemon flavored syrup
Wow, let's cross the boarders just by opening the bag. Unless this fits your culture or personal experiences somewhere along the line there is a good chance you may not have seen kral şekerpare tatlısı before. This Turkish dessert is prepared boiling 2 cups water, 2 cups sugar, add a few lemon drops and use the syrup to coat kral şekerpare tatlısı. Coconut and ice cream are also added suggestions to pair with kral şekerpare tatlısı. This is somewhat similar to other culture inspired desserts but remains unique to its own. kral şekerpare tatlısı makes a tasty treat with awesome and light flavor that is fun and tasty to eat. This is a great way to expand your own cultural exposure and step into an experience all its own. Highly recommend.

Dry and crumbled/fallen apart in package. Not easy to make but taste OK when prepared
I was not very impressed with the quality of these pastries. The company makes it clear that they do require extra preparation to enjoy, but this bag was still not that good as it came. The cookies were so dry and a bit stale, and many had broken into pieces in the package. There are preservatives added. The prepared cookies are good but not as good as I expected. FYI, the preparation is a decent amount of work and takes time.

Interesting international treat
I’ll be honest. I’m a little lazy, so I made an easy version of this dessert lol. I did the sugar boiling step. Then, I topped the cookies with regular frosting. It’s not authentic, but it works for me. I do wish the cookies came softer upon arrival. I had no idea that the cookies would arrive so hard. The total weight of the package is 257 grams. The net weight likely matches as advertised (250 g). The expiration date on my package is 05/15/2023.
