Love the octonauts
These are more expensive than I’m sure they were originally, which is frustrating, but they were a special gift for our octonauts-loving toddler. These are great quality and happy with our purchase. Our kids use these to play with their “Gup A” toy, which is an awesome toy! They promote creative play without relying on sounds and lights for entertainment. Now if only the octopod would come down in price...

Creature Report! Creature Report!
My 3-year-old is wild about the Octonauts right now. Seriously. She's seen pretty much every episode and we sing along to all the Creature Reports with gusto and confidence. She can identify each Gupp on sight. For Christmas, my parents gifted her with the Octopod, the Gupp-A and the Gupp-B, along with action figures of Captain Barnacles, Kwasii, and Peso. We have twin Barnacles and Kwasiis, and I guess when I give her this set for Valentine's, we'll have triples of the two of them, but it's worth it to round out the Octo-Crew. I mean, if you're going to have the Octopod and Gupps, you pretty much need Tweak to keep them in working order. You have to have Tunip to keep the crew in Fish Biscuits, and if Tunip's around, Shellington needs to be nearby so he can translate. I'm not really sure if Dashii and Professor Inkling are all *that* essential, but I'm sure their absence would be felt around the Octopod if they weren't there. I opted not to buy the ADDITIONAL Vegemals expansion pack, because Tunip is really the only one who actually interacts and has a proper name, and we don't need twin Tunips around here for the sake of having all the rest of the nondescript little Vegemals around. (They're like the LGMs from Buzz Lightyear: Space Ranger- you've seen one, you've seen 'em all.) All in all, though, these little figures are adorable, and I know that my daughter will love playing with them, because she loves playing with the Octonauts she already has (and she DOES take attendance at each session and asks where everybody else is). We're planning an Octonauts crossover with a plastic canvas canned ham travel trailer set, because the Octonauts are the right size to populate that as well as the Octopod and Gupps that we already have, so I think we'll get our money's worth and hours of imaginative play out of these figures.

Perfect for my little girlMy daufgt
My daughter loves the octonauts and this was the perfect gift for her. All the main characters came in the package and they look of good quality and durable (I bought them almost 1 year ago and they are still intact). The only thing to mention is that is a little bit expensive.

Not advertised as a bath toy, but it works.
Our 4yr old LOVES octonauts! Honestly, the show teaches some pretty good lessons and he regularly tells us interesting facts he's learned from episodes. That said, how this company has not come out with a bath-specific line of toys (beyond ones that squirt...umm, no thank you), is just beyond me! They spend 90+% of each episode in the water and their whole purpose is helping sea creatures, how do you think kids are going to want to play with their octonauts? While these are not advertised as tub toys, that's where they've lived for the last couple of months in our house and they appear to be working just fine. I know another reviewer mentioned the paint fading over time, but so far it appears to be holding up (although we don't have anything to compare it against). Even if the paint does fade over time, I know our kid could care less. The important part to him is he has his octonauts to go on all sorts of adventures in the tub and these figures perfectly compliment the sea animal bath toys he already had. Great value, great fun!

The paint is pretty well done and reasonably durable out of water -- ...
These are solidly built with moving arms, legs (these move together), and swiveling head -- except for Professor Inkling whose tentacles don't move at all and Turnip whose head doesn't swivel. The paint is pretty well done and reasonably durable out of water -- does tend to wear off after a couple months of constant use, but it is very gradual. However, it wears off much faster if you use these in the bath (supposedly they are made for in or out of water). BTW, the underlying color is the color of the body (Peso is black, Kwazi is orange, etc), so you could -- in theory -- patch up the paint when it gets too worn. I have not tried this, but intend to once the wear gets bad enough (will update). Also, the heads seem to all end up retaining water (mold seams aren't watertight), sometimes to the point that they're too top-heavy to stay standing. However, they're otherwise tough little guys -- they have fallen, been stepped on, shoved into backpacks and among blocks, and have been thrown ("flying"). They are none the worse for all this treatment, other than some minor paint wear.

Best out of water

They are none the worse for all this treatment, other than some minor paint wear. BTW I know that they wear faster in the bath because we have two sets: One for the bath, one for out of bath use. The ones out of the bath get more playtime overall and most of the rough treatment, but the paint on the ones in the bath is wearing off maybe 3x faster and more generally (not just main wear spots like noses). We do make sure to get them out of water as soon as the bath is over, so they're not in water other than during the bath. Update, 22 months after purchase: For my set, the wear and tear was worst in the first month and leveled off over the first year. So, I haven't touched them up... Partly, they look worn but playable, but mostly it would require keeping them out of use for a week and I don't think that would go over well. In any case, it's not flaking off, but definitely a wear pattern on very slightly water-softened paint or maybe paint that was not as well bonded as the rest. Here's a picture of the two Kwazis, who are definitely the favorite to play with at our house. It's easy to see which one stays out of the water -- it has a little wear, but looks new next to the bath one. Again, most of the wear was in the first month - my original post was after about four weeks of use.

This Gup is the sturdy boss of the bathtub
Hello! This Gup is the sturdy boss of the bathtub. Not only does the mouth squirt water (quite a ways too!) but the shark mouth will open and close and can "bite" things - like other Gups, toys, etc. (this is a very safe action, not at all snappy, and not a full close. The action is more like a blown out hair clip - gentle and never fully closed). Based on the television series, this Gup is fdeatured in almost every episode. Kwazsdii is a huge star in our house (which is good, because he comes with a LOT of the sets). The little lasso/loop set is pretty useless, unfortunately, but as little one has gotten older, he has tried to use it more, and with more success. Bes nice if it had some action on it. This Gup is the one most likely to retain water internally (in the water squirting system) so just make sure to have your little one clear it out. I store the Gups in a plastic bin with holes drilled in the bottom or a woven plastic basket (they live in two bathrooms) but I still try to give them all a goood cleaning with soap and clean water fairly often. I also make sure they don't have water in them or in their systems.!

Fun toys!
My kids, and I love this show. So come x-mas time we went crazy on these toys, a little too crazy. The prices before christmas were at half or sometimes even a third of the current prices, which is why we went a little overboard. This set has all of the characters and they are really well made. The paint has been barely rubbing off here and there, my kids have been putting these guys through the ringer with daily play, and if they can hold up to it so far, I'm not going to fault the manufacturer on this... Good bath toys too.

Really good value!
As other reviewers have said, this is a good way to get all the octonauts at a reasonable price. Serious fans can pick up sea creatures and accessories in other sets, but this is a good alternative to paying an eye-watering sum collecting the octonaut and sea creature twin packs. The quality of the figures is generally high: they are not too difficult for young children to pose and they are very robust. My only quibble is that the paint on them does tend to chip easily and they don't look perfect for long (and we aren't very rough with our octonauts).
