EPIC Uncured Bacon and Pork Bars, Paleo Friendly, Protein Snacks, 12 Ct, 18 oz

I bought a box of these to keep at my desk at work in case I get hungry and after eating the first three, I ordered a second box. These are absolutely delicious. I also have the venison bars and while they're good, they're kind of dry, which these bacon and pork bars are not. The protein to carbs ratio is good too, so I don't feel bad about eating them and it's a much healthier snack than the junk sold at vending machines in the office.

I really like these bars. They are not like jerky but instead are a moist meaty bar, as if a can of spam was cut into bars and let dry ever so slightly. Some may dislike the texture but I really like them. I can eat them anytime for a protein boost that has a good meaty flavor. I'm not sure I would call the taste "bacon" per se, but a semi-smokey pork. They are not spicy like a meat stick but do have a similar inside texture. I find these to be better than all the protein workout bars that have a ton of sugar and they travel very well. I take them whenever I fly as a snack. I'd recommend trying one before buying a box but I buy 2-3 boxes at a time.

Of all the Epic meats, I think this is the best one. So tender and porky. Not too salty, no other unwanted flavors. I eat these in the morning when I need to get something in my stomach without spiking my blood sugar. At that time of day, I don't really want something loaded up with onions, garlic, spice, etc. I appreciate the pure meaty taste of these bars.

Amazing taste and texture!! They are salty but not as salty as traditional jerky. These are also soft and easy to eat. They do not hurt your jaw. Expensive but a nice treat.

Bacon Bars: I've been getting these on subscribe and save for a while and specifically chose this item because they did not have any type of added sugar. While mine always seemed dry, the flavor was good and I could deal with the dryness seeing as how I finally had a filling, no sugar snack to carry with me (and it tasted like bacon - even better!). Today I opened one from my most recent delivery and took a bite, only to taste a sticky sweet, pork flavored bar. It was so different, I wasn't sure if there was something wrong with it. I noticed the label read pork + maple bar, so I wondered if I was sent the wrong box. No, the company switched the product formulation and tried to pass it off as the same thing! My "100% sugar free...15g of protein" bar transformed into a "100% Natural Pork...8g of protein" bar. I also noticed the sodium increased to 590mg, from 330mg in the previous bar. I am extremely disappointed and have no desire to eat this new bar. It IS more moist, but I honestly don't like the flavor. I quickly cancelled my subscription and will not order any more products from Epic, as they no longer have items that work for me, nor do I feel I can trust them. (I have spent a lot on their bars and animal fats/oils, only to have to throw too many of them out due to being sour/off or poor tasting.) I was hesitant to purchase this particular bar because I was afraid it would taste like Ham/Spam. I was wrong for the most part. I love Bacon but hate Ham and this is NOT a bacony taste but it is good. I wanted to purchase this for a quick breakfast on the go so, If you're thinking of purchasing this, I would say try it. The taste is similar to a light teriyaki taste with a bit of pepper but easier to eat than jerky. The texture was ok, a little like diced ham cubes pressed together, but don't let that put you off. These are tasty, easy to transport and a good alternative to jerky, or drive through. There is no weird smell, or aftertaste. I am excited to try the this winter during hunting season to see how they hold up to the cold and I will purchase these again.
