can someone whom has the smaller one as well tell me how they compare, like is the extra 15 bucks worth me buying the big one as well? thanks

I never had the smaller one, but I bought the bigger one for two reasons, the light "lumens" was much larger, if I remember correctly, and the battery inside was also much larger. Those two things motivated me to buy the larger light. Since you can use the battery to charge your cell phone, thus the advantage of the larger battery, and when I want light like this, not a simple flashlight, I want large amount of light, so I bought the larger one. It is not that heavy. The only thing I would change is the actual color of the flashlight body, because the body is all black it is hard to see in the dark. So, I am going down to my local hardware store and buy some reflect tape to make the thing easier to see, it is no good if I can find it once the power goes off. I hope this helps.

Is the unit defective if the blue charging light never stops blinking at the 100% indicator?
