Handfuls of Shattered Pieces: Pieces of Us Series - Book 1 - Kindle edition by Taylor, Kerry. Romance Kindle eBooks @ desertcart.com. Review: So freaking amazing - Such a great book! Great characters and plot, and I’m sure book two will add even more dimension and intrigue. I was in a book slump after reading the “Home” series and “Imprinted Tattoos” by Nikita Parmenter(also fantastic books btw I totally recommend), until someone recommended this book to me and I loved it!! The main storyline of the first book is Olivia escaping her kidnapper and then the beginnings of her healing journey along with the new family she becomes apart of. I think the story was effortless and I didn’t feel as if it was too cheesy, forced, over the top, and it definitely wasn’t boring. Just all around enjoyable. Olivia and her guys are such lovable characters. Give this book a try, you won’t regret it. And I’m very picky! Review: Love the story! - The story line is fantastic! I just have a few issues with it that made it lose a star in my book. Some include spoilers so keep that in mind before reading on: - there are some grammar issues, as well as mixing of the meters and feet (makes sense for Kade, but not for Olivia) that were frustrating, but not enough to lose a star on their own - Olivia heals and opens up to the family so quickly, it seems a bit too fast. She seems to heal super quickly without any professional help. Yes, she has panic attacks at loud noises, but she has been denied any interaction with anyone for 8 years, no sound, no light, nothing. I don't believe she'd fit in so quickly and seem so normal for the most part. If her growth took place over months versus days and weeks, it would be more believable. - Olivia talks like a normal seventeen year old within a week of getting free of her captor. I'd think that without talking to anyone for years, 1. She'd have some odd talking quirks, because she'd been talking to herself for so long, and 2. Her speech patterns and decision-making processes would be more childlike. Yes, she seemed mature for a 9 year old when she was taken, but that long alone should have stunted her social skills a lot more. - Matt should not have been the one to think of going door-to-door for information on her kidnapper. Some law enforcement professional would have thought of that, especially since they live in such a big city and could have had more people working on such a big case. Other than that, it was near perfect. Excited to read the next book!

Heartbreaking, Beautiful
This was my first read by Kerry Taylor and it was shockingly good. I would put the quality of writing up with some of the most talented authors I read. This was an emotionally charged story and Kerry knows how to build the characters and the world so that you find yourself quickly and deeply invested. You are going to be rooting so hard for the fmc and her H's all of whom have had a damaging life that has tried to break them. You can really see why they all need each other and the unique qualities they each bring to the new family group they are developing. This story has it all, action, intensity, loads of emotional connection, the beginnings of a beautiful romance. I can NOT wait for the second part to release. This is definitely going into my re-read library.

Pretty good, Suspend your disbelief
Overall this was a pretty good story. A little predictable in the climax and ending, but the characters are entertaining and I will read the next book. That said, it is unrealistic in the extreme. From the very beginning you will have to accept that this is not set in the real world, and just go with it. The author doesn't have a good grasp of time-lines and I regularly had to flip back a couple pages to confirm how much time was supposed to have passed. SPOILERS BELOW The author seriously needs some beta readers to tell when the British terms they use make little to no sense. And when they seem to be mixing up the guys. Also needs to do at least a little bit of scientific research or get a beta reader/editor to tell when something sounds ridiculous. Thigh high snow drifts and yet a girl who has never driven and doesn't even know the area can drive away? Severely malnourished victim can run from 4 exceptionally athletic men, find her home from somewhere she doesn't know, and jump in on a 7v2 fight? I know she's supposed to be good at math, and apparently very smart, to have skipped at least 3 years of education (9 year-old kids are usually in 2nd or 3rd grade, she was in 6th) but she misses 5 years of education and is determined to finish school in less than a year? The worst for me was in the ending, because I couldn't ignore it- Victim loses 'half' her blood volume and is conscious? Loses almost all and survives? I liked the story, for what it is. Her emotional responses to the guys are already crazy unrealistic, but I can ignore that for it being intended to be a romance. Getting closer to reality with these kind of real world details would have made it so much better.

Yes Please!! 🤌
Ok so for starters I’m kind of a sucker for the “girl who has been hurt in the past meets the men who would kill anyone who looks at her” trope, and this book definitely delivers that. The characters all feel very flushed out and believable (as individuals at least but what foster family really has 5 beefcakes for sons and a beefcake daddy to match??) and I found I could relate to all of them in some way. The story itself didn’t have too much going on for a while but I’m not mad at it, it’s only realistic that it takes time to get over 8 years of trauma, but when it finally kicks in it was a very interesting story. I think this was a very solid start to a series and I can’t wait to find out what Livie and her boys are up to in the next one

This was recommended somewhere and I decided to give it a go and downloaded on KU! I loved it so much I bought the e-book and then bought the paperback! I fell in love with this story by the end of page 1, I just did not want to put it down, at the same time I wanted to savour this written goodness. Olivia has been through a lot and feels incredibly broken, taken into a foster home she finds a loving family and 4 broken men. It’s beautifully written with a great storyline that kept me hooked. The romance and sweetness along with the drama and excitement make this well paced story such a fabulous read, I am going to dive into book two next!

This… It was so heartbreaking but warming at the same time. Can’t wait to read more of them. And for once I don’t even mind the Slowburn. Only issue I had was getting the names sorted because the guy names all are pretty similar. Cole, Kyle, Kade threw me in a loop the fist three quarters

So, I liked this book a lot, but was constantly distracted by the word "cariña". I'm sorry but in Spanish "cariño" Is always with an O at the end, no matter if it's feminine or masculine. It's like you call somebody your love... Then only love to make it shorter. She is "tu cariño"... Therefore you call her "cariño" Anyway, I hope the author or editor could be made aware of this and would change it, or all the Spanish readers will be laughing every time they'll read that word and the book is too good to loose points for this silly thing. Thanks!
