These styles of vertical stacking pots are usually designed so you water the top one, and let it soak through the bottom layers as it drains. It does in fact do this, but not very well, I recommend just watering all the sections individually (which is by no means a big deal or hassle).I planted from a mixed seed bag that contains red/green kale, arugula, red/green lettuce, and swiss chard.
