They feel and color very similarly to Mercurius chalks (often sold in Waldorf school supply shops), but are thinner sticks. They are wonderful for blackboard art! They are very vibrant, and blend easily. For blackboard *writing* I prefer a harder stick chalk (Prang, Crayola, etc) but for blackboard *art*, these are perfect. A few arrived broken, but this wasn't a problem for me, as we usually snap our art chalks anyhow. I find chalk chunks are just easier to use on a mounted blackboard than long sticks. I'm using a porcelain black board and haven't had any staining issues. Check out the pics and see how vibrant the colors are. The chalks are soft and some may arrive broken, but that really should be a deciding factor. They still work, look great, and are affordable.
