Long enough for 6 foot person to stretch completely out. No hard end supports. Wonderful!
First, I do not normally comment on products. I expect things to be right with any product. No comment to me means the product was satisfactory. However. I will make an exception with this product. I read about this cot on line. Claims were: easy to open and fold, check; sturdy and well made, check; and very comfortable being 6 foot 6 inches long and 31 inches wide, check. Quality of workmanship and the absence of protruding metal just stood out when ready to use. Our church has a girls camp in the mountains. Adult female leaders stay with the girls in small barracks style cabins. Church leaders ask a few adult males to bring their tents and sleeping bags, and stay in designated areas away from the cabins to assist with physical type help. I am almost 71 years old, so my comforts in a tent are important to me. I ordered the cot on a Tuesday. Was supposed to be there on Friday. Came on Thursday. Went to the mountains on Monday, and had my test. I have slept on cots in the military and at other times. Never comfortable even when I was younger. Byer of Maine nailed this puppy. I slept extremely well. I move a lot, first on back, then both sides. No bumping metal on sides; no banging head or feet on the ends. Once set up, it does not move. I have no stock in Byer of Maine, and not compensated in any way. Just super happy with this product. So, lets see, easy set up and take down, very sturdy and well made, and as comfortable as a cot can be. Remember, this is not your master bedroom king bed. That said, I did sleep very well, nothing keeping me awake. One nit to pick, but not about the cot. The box was damaged in shipping. It was smashed like a baseball bat hit it toward the end of one side of the box. It had me concerned until I opened up the box. It was double boxed by the way. The impression went through the second box as well, but fortunately, there seemed to be no damage to the cot itself, a testament to Byer of Maine packaging. Again, not a nit to pick with the product, only those who were shipping. Come on shipping folks, you can do better. If you want an easy to set up cot that is also well made and super comfortable, I recommend you just buy it. BTW, I saved $10 through Amazon.

snug as a bug
Slept like a baby on this cot. Very comfy and enough room and sturdy. Held my weight without a worry and wasn't wobbly. Set it up in a tent so we were off the ground and it was perfect. Way easier to sleep on than an air mattress, and way easier to get up from than an air mattress. And no worries about waking up on the hard ground like an air mattress. Easy to set up, like a camping chair, with the included storage bag. Not a hiking cot because of the weight. But a solid cot. Worth it.

This is the one. Well made/Quality product. Set up, folds up in seconds, perfect extra bed or camping cot!
Appears well made and sturdy, set it up upon receiving it via UPS. Literally took me longer to get it out of the box than it did to set it up! Sets up in seconds, easily a one man or woman job. Yes lil heavy, definitely not overly heavy, I look at that as "it will last" feature. You won't want to hike with it on your back but for putting in your car to go camping or for an overnighter at a friends, perfect! I'm mainly using mine for guests/extra bed, upon testing it out, laying and moving around on it, again seems like a great purchase, very well made, sets up and packs up in seconds and fits right back into the bag in comes with with no issues at all. To note, no end bars come with this unit, I did not want end bars, with past cots end bars are uncomfortable on your head if your tall and your ankles/feet, this is not an issue at all so don't think twice about the no end bars, not having then makes this cot even more comfortable! Plop down in the middle, swing your self on and get ready for a good nights rest! To note the obvious or not so obvious, you will not want to sit on either of the ends with no counter weight on the other side or you might flip, use common sense and you'll be just fine! I was waiting for the first one to see if I was going to order a second, I'm ordering a second one! want two for when me and the wife travel camp or have two guests stay over. I did a lot of research, This is the cot you want for an extra bed, camping, traveling what ever, its the one! Unless your carrying it on your back for 5 miles, then go with a light weight aluminum one, otherwise, hands down, this is the one.

Easy, sturdy, but sags
Definitely easy to unpack and unfold! Definitely sturdy—has held up for now about 3 weeks of nightly use and doesn’t show signs of unsteadiness! However, after sleeping on it for two or three nights with a sleeping pad underneath, I determined I would need additional, narrower padding to counter sagging. It was a quick fix by purchasing 2 chaise lounge chair pads (maybe each 1.5 in thick?) on summer sale! Not a huge problem, but I would have hoped for less sagging based on other reviews (and I’m right in the middle of the weight limit). I am sleeping better and wake up with less aches and stiffness than when I was sleeping on the floor on a pad!

Awesome! Easy to use, sturdy and comfortable
I took this camping during a road trip out west in June. Yeah, I knew it was gonna be hot but it was super hot. This cot got me off the ground enough to keep my body lots cooler than if I were sleeping on the ground. Plus, you can store stuff underneath. This cot literally goes up in seconds with ease. Same with taking it down. I bought the XL version - I'm 6'3" - and it fit me fine even with a pillow. No ankles hanging off the edge. Was very sturdy with zero wobble even when turning side to side. I like how the middle section of each side edge is covered so there's no bonking against metal parts So I was wondering ... How could I make this great cot ever MORE comfortable. I put my XL self inflatable air mattress on top and covered it all up with a sheet made for a massage table so it kept everything nice and tight, in place and tidy. This was extremely comfortable and I slept great for two weeks during my camping trip. Totally worth the money. I can tell this is well made and will last for many years - and it's less expensive than a lot of other brands that got mixed reviews. Plus, it comes with a very convenient carry bag. Yeah, it's a little heavy but you're not gonna be taking this thing backcountry. Sooooo glad I made this purchase.

I am a long time avid camper with no general issues for roughing it with lightweight backpacking gear. But not my focus now. My passion is capturing multimedia content in remote locations. To do so, I pack along a BUNCH of audio, photo and video gear. "Lightweight" has no meaning to me. I operate from a well-equipped a base camp and set out for a day of capturing content. Given that weight is not an issue, I decided I may as well be comfortable. To support that proposition, rather than sleeping on the ground on a plushy thermarest, I'd get a cot, put the thermarest on that and sleep in a portable bed. What a great decision! In addition to the comfort of height, the cot takes you off of uneven, hard ground. I can't speak to alternatives to the Byer portable folding cot. But what I can say is the Byer sets up in about one minute (take down time is the same), provides super support, and with a nice thermarest is as comfortable as a bed. I am 6 ft 200 lbs, and the Byer is totally at ease with that. It is heavy, but so what. You aren't packing it on your back. My only regret is I would prefer to buy products made in the USA. This was "Handcrafted in China". But I could not find alternatives that were made in the USA. Too bad. Byer should kick it up a notch and bring manufacturing back to the USA. I would pay a premium for that.
