I have 4 large tanks with 12 air stones and 2 sponge filters roaring, with approximately 65 feet of air line hooked up, maybe only using half its capacity. It is very noisy. It says less than 60db in the insert, but I'm thinking close to 59 3/4db. It would be best in another room or I ended up building it a ventilated, insulated box to keep it in the same room so you could hear the TV. Maybe quieter than 4 smaller pumps running. It runs hot. The air it pumps is hot. The metal valve system gets hot to the touch, to the point it expands, not quite melts the tubing connections, causing them to pop off without some extra clamp material.
