I want to measure the diameter of a rock sphere. What is the largest diameter that it can measure?

I'm guessing you could measure a little over 14 inches before the scale guide would hit (the wider the span, the shallower the depth).

The description indicates 11" and above, does that mean the caliper can't measure anything smaller than 11"?

It will span from zero to about 22 inches, but be advised that the scale is not accurate. I span what I'm measuring, set the lock and then measure the span using a Milwaukee tape measure with a magnetic tip.

I know the width/thickness these can measure up to 20" but how long are the arms? I'm trying to measure thickness pretty deep on a board.

For an item of 5/8" thick, it will reach a depth of approx 10". For an item of 2" thick, it will reach at depth of approx 9".
