Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan star in Nora Ephron's wonderfully romantic comedy about two people drawn together by destiny. Hanks stars as Sam Baldwin, a widowed father who, thanks to the wiles of his worried son, becomes a reluctant guest on a radio call-in show. He's an instant hit with thousands of female listeners who deluge his Seattle home with letters of comfort. Meanwhile, inspired in equal parts by Sam's story and by classic Hollywood romance, writer Annie Reed (Ryan) becomes convinced that it's her destiny to meet Sam. There are just two problems: Annie's engaged to someone else and Sam doesn't know yet that they're made for each other. Co-starring Rosie O'Donnell, Rita Wilson and Rob Reiner. Review: Why Do We Watch It Over & Over Again??? - Well, it is a departure from the grist mill of everyday life we endure day in and day out. Some "Feel Good" movies are better than others . . . too much sugar coating makes one lethargic. "Sleepless" is just right. Odd that in the 2 or 3 bios I have seen on Tom Hanks, Sleepless In Seatle is never mention in his filmography. Mr Hanks probably thinks it beneath "Private Ryan" or others he has garnered awards for. It is not!! Sleepless is cast perfectly, from supporting slots filled so well by Ms O'Donnell, Rob Reiner and David Hyde Pierce . . . and the two leads with fantastic chemistry, Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. Absent foul language and sexual exploits You know the story line . . . who does not? This script has more memorized one liners used around our house than most any other film we enjoy. The opening scenes are so sad . . . the father and son at the grave of their wife and mother, and the friends and family trying to help . . . caring so much about this good man and his son. One immediatly starts thinking that the entire movie is doomed to walk this dark and emotional path. But NO! A change of venue opens up a refreshing new tact in the story, a chance call in encounter with a radio female "Frasier Crane" who's listening audience includes Annie Reed (Meg Ryan) from Baltimore, who is engaged to Walter (Bill Pullman) who is allergic to everything and a very VERY nice man. Actually, Bill Pullman's characture is one of the things this film does perfectly! Instead of this supporting role being portrayed as a guy we don't like, a thug or an idiot, Walter is really a great guy! Anyway, things are set in motion from this point on, and the film is simply "magic" as the storyline points out! Absent profanity and sexual content . . . . well, save be for a scene or 2 like this: ::::: Sam baldwin: I'll tell you what I'm doing this weekend, I'm getting laid. It's the 1990's and nobody's getting laid. I'm the only man in America who's getting laid this weekend and I haven't been laid that much. Six girls in college, maybe seven. [sees Jonah standing in the doorway] Sam Baldwin: How long have you been standing there? Jonah Baldwin: Forever. Sam Baldwin: What did you just hear me say? Jonah Baldwin: Six girls in college, maybe seven. Sam Baldwin: Seven... EIGHT! Mary Kelly. Jonah Baldwin: [holds Annie's letter] This is the one I like! This film does what it was designed to do, that is to be familiar and yet rich with surprises. Buy it and watch it often. You will like the way you feel after! Review: Sleepless in Seattle continues to delight - I can’t count how many times my wife and I have watched Sleepless in Seattle, but it’s been enough... and when desertcart had a great deal we got it streaming to add to our streaming library. I’ll have to admit - I love everything up to the point Hanks and Ryan get together - I have never been a fan of their chemistry or more to the point, lack there of. But the film is a great ride and has countless charming moments and great acting. This is a story of daring to love again. The relationship between the son and father hinges on them moving on after the death of Hank’s onscreen wife. They were deeply in love and he’s hurting. On the other coast Meg has spent her life doing what’s expecting, being boring, and now she’s getting engaged to the wrong guy - who’s far too much the right guy. (again, I’m a bigger fan of she and that guy staying together, as she and Hanks just do not click - my wife agrees). But beyond that everything is a great ride. The cast is outstanding, the characters interesting and unique, and the story itself is good - a fun RomCom. On the other side, this movie has given us some fun and memorable moments - Rosie and Meg crying over old movies, Hanks’ real life wife, Rita, crying over old movies, Hanks and Gray crying over old movies... and the radio host giving us some of the original “real world drama” on Christmas night - when Meg sings Horses, horses, horses... This is a date night film, a Sunday afternoon, cuddle with your wife, or rainy day way to spend some time enjoying something delightful.

My absolute favourite movie @}->---
Other than The Breakfast Club, Sleepless in Seattle is my all time favourite movie. I know it's older now, but to me I will always watch it over and over again. I like to watch it a couple of times a year because I always enjoy it and never tire of it. As everyone probably knows, Tom Hanks and his son move from Chicago to Seattle after Tom's wife dies and they need a new start. Hoping to find a new love for his father, Jonah calls a radio station to speak on a talk show to help his dad out. Their radio call name is Sleepless in Seattle. Listening to the conversation all the way in Washington DC is Meg Ryan who has just announced her engagement to Bill Pullman. She seems to fall in love with Sam (Tom Hanks) instantly as she finishes his sentances and is hooked by his story. Being a writer, she does a story on him and finds herself wanting to get in touch with him. She makes the journey over to Seattle and manages to say Hello to him (before almost getting hit by cars on a busy road). She backs off after thinking that he's in a relationship already and heads back home. All the while through the movie, these events parallel the movie An Affair To Remember, so eventually there is an arranged meeting for Annie and Sam on top of the Empire State Building on Valentines Day (Sam hasn't arranged any of this; Jonah has done all the correspondance without his knowledge). Long story short, you can gauge the rest of the story line. It's fun and enjoyable and yes it's a chick flick but there is nothing wrong with that. There is some great acting in it by Jonah (Ross Malinger) and the chemistry between Hanks and Ryan is always great to watch (although they don't have many scenes together). I really love this and I don't imagine there being another great love story like this one. Nora Ephron did a great job with the screenplay and I will never get sick of watching this movie. It really is fantastic.

A romantic comedy gem that has stood the test of time
What a pleasure to see this romantic comedy classic restored with crisp imagery and sound. The plot rolls the dice on a hugely unlikely premise, but it does not matter, not only because of the first-rate acting, dialogue, and soundtrack, but because the movie is about deeper things -- holding the self and a family dyad together in the face of devastating and lingering loss, while trying to rebuild; coming to terms with one's own romantic needs, in spite of one's "better" judgment; and above all, being willing to take a risk when fate offers you an unlikely second chance. Meg Ryan, as Annie, was at the peak of her considerable charm and star power here, and Tom Hanks, as Sam, wisely refused to let the film get too sentimental; his arguments with his son Jonah (Ross Malinger) later in the film, and Hanks' now-classic bit with Victor Garber (Greg) losing it over that famed, um, tearjerker, "The Dirty Dozen," provided great comedic balance. Rosie O'Donnell, in the best friend role of "Becky," was never funnier while also being sympathetic -- her facial expressions top even her hilarious line deliveries about "her Rick." Bill Pullman (as Walter, a truly thankless role) has a ridiculously mild reaction to being dumped by Annie, but this was a classic Nora Ephron move; she had an interesting weakness for unrealistic soft landings (see also Meg Ryan-Greg Kinnear in "You've Got Mail"; Pullman was given a much richer character in "While You Were Sleeping," with Sandra Bullock). You don't ultimately mind, though, because by that point in the film you so want Annie to find Jonah and Sam on the top of the ESB. And when Sam and Annie finally hold hands -- "Magic." That is the genius of Sleepless in Seattle.

Okay romance.
I'd heard lots and lots about this movie over the years since it was released, so I finally broke down and rented a stream off of Amazon just to see what all the fuss was about. I'm like that. When something popular hits the mainstream, I tend to shy away from it unless I was there to see it debut. It's who I am. It's a light drama with one or two comedic moments, but nothing overly heavy. It's more or less a romantic fantasy that somewhat skews female, though dudes with heart should probably enjoy it too. Though my comments come many days late and many dollars short in terms of timeliness. Like a lot of Amazon streams the image, even though it's high definition, is still marginally soft around the edges. And this review comes from a guy living in the Bay Area, THE tech hub for the world, and has the fastest possible home net connection that you can have. So, take that for what it's worth. It is a movie, so the story elements and premise, to me, as a fantasy, can't be taken any way other than as a fantasy. To me these films are kind of basic. My background is shooting corporate video and indy features, so when I see a film like this that has that major studio gloss to it, I often wonder what it would have been like with no-marquis actors and an independent budget, but with the same shooting schedule and styles (minus all the grip gear that goes along with a major Hollywood production). It's just the way I think. Check it out, if you haven't already. It's not the huge sleeper that I think it was billed as being when it was in the theatres all those years ago, but it's worth a gander.

Magic Romance
It's Magic...the whole theme of this lovely romance sponsored by a widower's young son. The son writes a letter to a newspaper in New York pleading for a new wife for his devastated father, after his wife's untimely demise. The letters pour in and Meg Ryan and Rosie O'Donnel filter through the responses, and of course Meg Ryan becomes enthralled in the hunt. So the movie progresses and eventually Meg and Tom, are to meet. But Tom is reluctant, so the 8 year-old son hops a plane to New York, and now Tom must follow. The kid is so determined...It eventually all works out of course. (Based on a Night to Remember...Cary Grant/Debora Carr, circa 1956.)

Perfecto !
Si realmente te gusta este clásico... entonces tienes que comprar el DVD. Está perfecto y se pudo reproducir en mi notebook. El empaque estaba un poquito golpeado pero nada para alarmarse, después de todo es una película del 2003.
