Review: Great all-rounder for events, YouTube, weddings, etc. - I bought this when I had my Zoom H5 and was going to utilize it mainly as a vlogging set-up. It works great, although, it can be cumbersome to use in a run and gun vlogging set-up because of having to attach this to the H5, then using a hotshoe connector for the recorder to attach to the camera, then turning them both on, then connecting a 3.5 wire for them to work together, etc. If you have a bit more time to set-up, this mic in combination with a Zoom recorder will give you great results. I've used it for weddings, events, interviews, YouTube and for projects to get through grad school. The ability to get ambient sound with the side mics or to isolate your subject directly in front of you all in one device is muy bueno.

I recently purchased a Zoom multi-channel for my mobile podcast and was thinking I'd like a connector that just picks up ambient sound because it's automotive related. I didn't realize what I was getting. Zone controlled, stereo sound, easily connected and a shotgun mic that's literally better than any professional shotgun mic I've ever purchased. I can use this literally everywhere! I almost said, where have you been all my life! Not to mention the Zoom does have quality sound and does its job well. Highly recommended and ultimately overqualified for whatever you plan to use it for.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: If using the Zoom H5 is this mic necessary when recording a speaker talking or are the existing mics enough?**
A: Not only is the shotgun feature on this very handy for getting good sound from an impressive distance, the ability of the Zoom to limit or expand the side channels on this mic is absolutely invaluable. It's like the included mid-side mic, but with the added distance power of the other shotgun. A great hybrid and I use it more than any other mic.

**Q: Can I get mono audio using this mic? or is it always produces stereo?**
A: In post production, you can get mono audio as the ssh6 only records in stereo (at least on the Zoom Q8). If you mean at the actual time of recording, no. It always records in stereo (One track for the front, one track from the sides).

**Q: I assume this mic has the ability to record on 2 separate channels, one for each capsule, is this the case?**
A: It does the MS type of recording, so if you chose to decode it, you would have a LCR feel.  It will require you to update the firmware so that you can adjust the side record levels.  When you just import the file, it will be on 2 tracks, with one of them being directional, and the other the off-mic.

**Q: Does this work with the h8? i don't see it listed, but doesn't the h8 use the same capsule system as the h6?**
A: The SSH-6 would be compatible with the H8. The H8 would also be compatible with any other Zoom interchangeable microphone capsule.

Sin duda alguna es un gran micrófono, capta exageradamente bien el sonido ambiental y direccional. El muy fácil de usar en la zoom h5 o h6. Ya incluye su deadcat. La zoom h6 con sus dos cápsulas ya guarda muy bien el sonido pero con este micrófono sientes que la zoom h6 valió la pena cada centavo.
