Great case fan with plenty of static Pressure
Remember 140mm fans were made to be quieter 120mm fans. That's why a lot of 140mm fans come with screw mounts that fit 120mm. This fan is by far the best bang for your dollar. Yes the fan is loud but only if you put it on high, other wise, the fan is moderately loud while still moving a ton of air. The side of the fan has a Low or High switch that can manually be toggled. Just remember that this fan is 38mm wide, some tights spots will not allow this fan to fit. No gripes about the fan, it does come with rubber mounts and the standard metal screws. If you are looking for plenty of static pressure and don't mind the extra DBs, this is for you.

Great airflow
I bought one of these to replace the 120mm a/c fan in a small air hockey table that wasn't moving enough air to lift the puck. This fan made a significant improvement in performance. Additionally, despite what some of the other reviews here say, this fan is actually quite quiet. At 170 cubic feet of air per minute, this moves far more air than the incredibly loud a/c fan that I pulled out of the air hockey table while making less noise than most of the fans in my PC. When testing it out before putting it in the table, I was impressed to the point that I actually just bought another one of these fans for my computer. For comparison, this fan moves up to 170 cubic feet of air per minute. I couldn't find a single other 140mm fan anywhere online that reached 125 CFM.

Some Fat Fans Boi
They are great fans, but since they're a little thicker you might have some compatibility issues with some cases. Also it has 120mm mounting holes but comes with adapters. The adapters help out, but trying to get these to mount on the 280mm rad was pretty time consuming because the adapters don't fit very well on the rad so, and you'll need to purchase some shorter radiator screws to mount them. so they're not very ideal for watercooling. They also have a switch for power or quiet mode. This switch feature was odd however because somehow the settings designated by the switch positions were somehow flipped so the fans saw much more performance on quiet mode than performance mode. Quiet mode is pretty quiet, it runs at around 1300 rpm on this setting, and around 2000 rpm on performance mode. Noise level seems very subjective to me but they're pretty quiet compared to other things in my house that overpower these fans. On either setting the fans move a lot of air and keep my CPU (6700k) around 23 Celsius at idle. The most ideal setup would be to run the fans on the CPU header/s at performance mode and any case fans on quiet mode.

Best Fan Availble?
Most powerful 120mm pattern fan available? Possibly......... This is an exceptional quality, dual mode product that can be used in about any application. I have been building and moding computers for nearly 25 years and have never come across a fan product quite like this. It has all the finesse any one could ever want and unreal brute power when needed. One reviewer commented that when the fan was set to max power, they could feel air coming out of his case 10 ft away, well, that is definitely confirmed and I will add that the unit produces a very narrow powerful air column, even at that distance. Noise level, if used on its low setting, tamed with a fan controller or bios setting, the sound level is on par with most fans I have used excluding the specialty silent variety. On high power it is a different story. Ok it's loud, but what you don't hear is excessive bearing or motor noise, mostly air moving at a rated 171CFM!!! If you are building a gaming rig, server or if you just have a smaller case with limited fan mounting points and need the best cooling possible, you found it. Yea, you get a little rumble under the hood when you these crank these beasts up but it's a very small price to pay for the performance you receive in return. Just 2 of these set up in a push pull configuration in one of my Corsair Obsidian 800D cases lowered the average temps 17+ Celsius. That's a big case and that's some serious performance for just swapping out 2 fans. Down side, none really, but see below, I wish they would offer this unit unchanged in a 140mm mounting configuration, I would replace every fan in all of my rigs with these. Also, they may be a little thick for some applications. In an industry saturated with mostly junk products aimed at noobs, this unit stands alone. The build quality is exceptional far as fans go, it doesn't have any bling, its dull black, boring and void of any flashing led lights. However if your building a serious rig and want the best performance, this one is for you. Word of caution, this unit is primarily designed to create high static pressure for cooling heat sinks and high performance radiators, as a result the design of this fan is very robust. It has a heavy blade with a severe rake, powerful motor, and a beveled blade edge designed to cut down on noise and drag while it slices thru the air. Personal experience: While the blade design is very effective at reducing noise it also does a good job of reducing the length of one's misguided finger without slowing down one bit. BUZZZZZZZZ OUCH! Yep, my fault entirely and I must state that I was not severely injured but VERY suprised, only a flesh wound but it sure got my full attention real quick. That's what fan guards are for or better yet, power buttons. Admittedly over the years I have inadvertently stuck my fingers in plenty of fans, however not one, has ever injured me, they simply stop spinning, this one does not stop easily, so use caution. Despite the finger event, I really like this fan and will be buying many more, matter of fact they are the best I have seen and defiantly worthy of a 5+ star rating. UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE EAT MY WORDS - SEE ABOVE ************JUNK PRODUCT************* I ordered two more of these and they are both defective. Apparently there's no one at home in the QC dept. at Silver Stone. Looks like an entire bad lot has been released into the market. The old ones appear to have no defects. Beware This is possibly the best static pressure 140 MM fan on the market providing you don't get a defective unit, which is very unlikely and very disappointing. New lot? 2 bad units in a row. That's a 100% DOA rate. I'm done with Silver Stone. Tried running both of them off many headers that are known to be working properly, even ran it directly off the power supply and another rig were two of these older versions of the same fan are working fine. Same result. DOA Sent both back, and removed the two functioning units from my other rig due to a lack of trust and deposited them into the old parts pile where they belong. Did I say I'm done with Silver Stone? Other users have stated the exact same problem in regards to the operation (stuck in the low position) will not run above 500 RPM regardless of the setting or configuration making the fan useless junk. *************** Shameful QC Silverstone************ GOOD NEWS: Replaced everything w/corsair and could not be happier. No I am not an employee, just an enthusiast that likes stuff that actually works.

Moves alot of air but made a whining noise.
Needed a fan that would fit my Cryorig C1 CPU air cooler. This is a fan that is 140mm with the option of mounting in 120mm or 140mm holes with the adapter. No question this unit moves a bunch of air with its 171cfm at high speed. Obviously this thing cranked up at highspeed on performance mode I expected loud fan noise. What I didn't expect was a whining noise which I couldn't diagnose either from an unbalanced fan or maybe the barrings. Anyways I couldn't take it so I returned the unit.

Powerful fan with high static pressure, poor quality control.
PROs: A Ball bearing 140 x 38 mm fan is rare. Most 140 mm fans are garbage. The ideal San Ace models cost $50-100 each. This fan represents a great value in this segment. The fan delivers a tremendous amount of air at a reasonable SPL. The 38mm thickness and oversized design delivers high static pressure and can ventilate even the most congested PC cases. The fan frame looks nice and the sleeved cables with black connectors look good in most setups. CONs: I initially purchased 4 fans. Only 3 worked in both high and low modes, the 4th only worked in low mode. I used the 3 working fans in a 24/7 setup for about 6 months, last night I noticed one had failed completely with no warning. I never noticed and abnormal sounds to suggest a mechanic problem or bearing lubrication issue. I blame the onboard speed controller. Bottom Line: When they work they are a powerful fan that can be had at a quarter the cost of a San Ace 140x38 mm. Until they sort out the controller / electronics problem they can be unreliable and would not recommend them for "mission critical" or heavy duty applications, stick with the other options from SanAce, Pabst, Nidec, Panaflo, etc.

THICC Awesome Fans!
These fans are awesome! If you need some high pushers with plenty of air flow these are a great choice! They can be loud on full blast but they do kick out some air! Using them on the quiet mode or with a pwm signal one can keep the noise down to a sane level. I received the v2 version that comes with ears to mount onto a 140mm fan placement. Just make sure you have the allotted space for these thick fans!

Truly a quality product ~ Hi/Low Switch, extremely quiet running, to nearly now sound at all. Needed for A/V cabinet, so wired to a USB cable, black to black, red to the light striped wire (not blue or green) To reduce heat on a unit, volume of flow, not necessarily velocity of flow, is the solution. DVR's produce a lot of heat. I also ventilated the shelf, and raised the unit for better flow. This fan sits below the unit blowing upward. Lastly, I put a bead of rubber/silicone on the contact side of the fan for vibration. My preference, BLACK RTV silicone adhesive. AST USAF Electronics Ret.

The static pressure, the CFMs. My God the CFMs
Running hot? Need some ventilation? Look no further.

Static Pressure! You Got It, Lots of It!
Moves air with ease. Simply put, you get great value for money on 140mm, 38mm thickness fan. There are practically not many competitors for 38mm x 140mm fan in this price range. Will keep buying this. Ensure that your application allows this thickness.
