Q: does it fit the passenger side or the driver side? or is it the same?

I don't understand the question, there's no place this "fits" on either side. It can be connected to a battery on either side using the jumper cables in the same manor, but there's no place in cars designed just for these to sit in.

Q: how long are the cables?

The cable measures 16” to the handle and then another 6” to the connector tip.

Q: Does this have to be stored upright? Or can I just toss in my trunk?

First, It is the best. Got me, friends and strangers out of being stranded. Never failed, just make sure it is charged. Throw it anywhere in the trunk and it is ready to be used. No particular position needed to be stored at.
