Tecumseh L-Head Engines

I have a discontinued Tecumseh enjine I was tuning up for a minibike. This manual was pretty complete. I'm by no means an expert. I'm a self-taught do-it-yourselfer with a college education - so I can follow instructions. And this manual is very easy to follow to do higher-than-average maintenance. I was specifically looking for how to hook up a missing throttle linkage - its pictures left a lot to be desired for this. Otherwise, everything else was very good. So, if you have an old Tecumseh, get this manual.

Good issue

Since Tecumseh engines are no longer being produced (the company went bankrupt),I thought it prudent to obtain a book concerning the engine in my snow blower in case it needed repair.My snow blower was built in 2005 and there have been considerable changes to the engine,especially the carb since this book was published.If you want to get a general idea of the workings of your engine,however,this book is worth the investment.I really appreciated the chapter on the starting mechanisms,since it allowed me to fix a Toro two stroke engine.Of course nothing compares to the technician's manual for the L head engines,but this book will provide some basic understanding of the engine for the do-it-yourself mechanic.

This manual is very well written and illustrated. It has both diagrams and photos, which helps the reader to understand what they are actually looking at. This manual is better than the Briggs and Stratton L-head manual.

Be aware that the copy write date for this manual is 1994. While it is a good and comprehensive manual, it does not have cross reference to Craftsman part numbers for anything built in the last 31 years. If you can find the Tecumseh model number from some other source, or identify it from the drawings, then it is useful

A lot of people think repairing lawn mowers is a hard thing to do.I tell you from experience,that learning how to repair my own lawn mower is a big money saver for me. To do some repairs most people all ready have the tools to do the job,what am I talking about? Wrenches,sockets,screwdrivers etc. But what realy makes the job go easier is repair mannuals. They give you all the specks,tune up procedures and trouble shooting guides etc. So buy any lawn mower repair mannual and give it a try!

Book was in great shape as advertised. Taught Grandson principles of his lawn mower engine while rebuilding his mower.

Extremely informative and comprehensive book covering these engines, most of the contact information is for the US though, putting that aside I found the details I needed within the book. Very good buy
