When he starts to get stressed I give him a few licks at a time and it keeps him calmer and he's learned to come to me instead of freaking out. He obviously loves the taste, and it's so much easier than carrying a ton of treats in a bag. The only issue I have with this flavor and the grass fed beef flavor, is that they are made with brown rice syrup, which gets sticky and gooey in the heat, so the dog gets more of it then he should. The other flavors are made with hydrogenated oils--not as healthy but don't get gooey and last longer. My dog seems to like the "run away frank" flavor best. Licked it a couple of times and backed away. A couple of hours later we were training and I offered it to her again and she licked it a couple of times and she looked at me and wiggled her nose, like what was I giving her? I smelled it and it does not smell like chicken. It says it's made out of peas. It has a very strong, (not pleasant) odor. Now when I get the tube and act like I'm going to open it she runs away or hides. Not a very effective "treat". After she has licked on it I would not assume to return it, however the cost was for 4-5 licks, not a very good value for the money. I just hope that it will not hurt my dog. I was excited that being made without a ball, like the lick-stick, it would be safer for her.
