Perfect for young aspiring sculptors
The illustrated guide provides a fantastic variety of models with step-by-step instructions for creating fun and creative clay models. I purchased this for my 5-year-old granddaughter and she has created some of the models and has begun more projects inspired from this book. She also likes showing me the different things she plans to create from the book and it has been a fun, interactive gift so far. It does provoke some thought as to how to form their clay from a 2 dimensional picture with their clay. But the opportunity for them to create and improvise during this process does provide some useful skills. I included a basic set of sculpting tools here on Amazon (which were under $7 at the time). These are a good thing to include if gifting this to a young person. They are similar to the wood and steel tools that they might use as they grow their skills.

I think it is great but the kids do their own thing
We have been doing a lot of clay. I think this book is great and the directions are easy to follow. However, both of the kids prefer to do their own thing with the clay. This would be good to get someone started.

Kids were delighted
This book is amazing! My grandkids, ages 5-11 were so proud of their creations. It was a bit difficult for the 5 year old, but he still enjoyed it.

Great Book
Book was easy to follow with some great techniques. My 8 yr old daughter with my help created some fab pieces which she plans to gift to her teacher and grandma. 2 yrs on, I've still got the sloth she made me! She was able to add texture before we cooked it, after using the book as inspiration! She was 7 then, so it was really easy to follow. We still have the book and plan to revisit this project soon! Great book
