You can use it alone for rooting plants or mixed in different quantities with soil for planting. **Q: Why does it say to use only in container plants? I have horrible clay soil and need something to let the roots get through.** A: Maybe because it’s so light weight it will slowly wash away further into the soil and not not stay where it is needed, the better way to soften the clay is go to Lowe’s or Home Depot in the building department and get sand and work it in the clay dirt depending on how thick it is it may take a few bags you can get 50 lb. bags of sand for about $5.00. I use sand in my potting soil for my succulents plants and it works well of course I always use pearl light in my potted plants along with the sand but I’m no expert it’s just what works best for me. Cover the netpots with plastic film until the seeds germinate. After a week, thin to one seed per pot.
