I mostly want to use this for hanging pictures. Will the magnet be a problem at all? Do I want a different kind of level?

I use this item for leveling a travel trailer. It's less than a foot in length and stores easily during our travels. The magnet is a strip along the bottom that allows me to attach it to the bumper or hitch, but I can't see why it would hinder your aligning a picture. It is more level than you need, but entirely serviceable.

I am looking at the Empire e81.12 True Blue 12-Inch Magnetic Tool Box Level. I need to use overhead to level wall clocks along the bottom

Unless you have steel on the bottom of the clock, or other magnetic metal, this particular level is going to be rather unwieldy; if the bottom is in shadow, reading it will also be difficult. It's a great level for pipe and sheet metal, less so for other materials.

Is this level still the old dark blue? I ordered one from another vendor and it was light blue. I want the old dark blue.

The plastic part is dark blue, but the fluid is very light.

Is this 12" level innercase or body aluminum not plastic ?

The level is mostly plastic. The only aluminum parts I see are the top and bottom rails.
