Does this just run until it is turned off? Is there no thermostat or heat settings??

I only use it when I am doing my arm exercises and I shut it off manually. I did see on the top hours I think you can select also. I have not used this option.

i have a 23 foot camper would this do a good job if temp. is below freezing ?

We have. 38 foot 5th wheel. We keep one in the bedroom on low with the door open and one in the living room on high and it keeps it very comfortable in freezing temps. It does a better job at maintaining a comfortable temp then trying to heat the whole rv up to that temp. We usually trim on the furnace to get the chill out and then run the heaters all day.
