Perfect for barefoot transitions! Highly recommended for ANY trail rider!
These are fantastic for barefoot transitions! My horse had full shoes for almost 14 years so I was very worried about transitioning to barefoot. She is a previous show horse & gymkhana horse who has now turned to full pleasure trail riding with an occasional arena workout and I just didn't feel iron shoes were always the best option let alone the safest option. Climbing large rocks or boulders near where we live would be especially slippery for her. Also, I really just wanted to take a more natural approach and "retire" her from her days of hard work. I also did a ton of research on this topic and you know how I found out about this brand? Instagram. A lot of big channels have bragged about how awesome these boots are for trail riding. I had to give them a shot. With the help of a set of Cavallo Trek trail boots, I asked my farrier to pull her iron shoes. Of course, she was extremely sore the first week or two. Only light hand walking exercise at first and we built up to being able to ride again. Our first trail ride, I velcro'd these boots on and instantly she acted like her regular shoes were back on. She was able to conquer gravel, rocks, rivers, you name it without blinking. It has now been almost 6 months since I first started using these boots and I don't know where I'd be without them. Her hooves have been able to strengthen up on their own over time (with biotin supplements & a healthy diet) with the aid of the Cavallo Trek boots! We wouldn't have been riding several months if it weren't for these. My only regret is that I had transitioned her to barefoot sooner. She seems all around so much happier without them and in a better mood. Priceless! Actual info about the quality of the boots: I've ridden probably over 100 miles easily with these boots on in the last 6 months. We have explored all sorts of terrain here in Southern California on our trail ride weekend trips. These boots have been though rocky conditions at Big Bear mountain, to the sandy, hot deserts of Joshua Tree National Park, and even-- yes, the ocean! The salty ocean waters of Santa Barbara washed right off at the end of a long day riding with some hose water. The integrity of the boots has remained unfazed through all sorts of tough and weathered conditions. They rinse off so easily! (I do wash them after 90% of our rides! I don't want mud to cake on and ruin the materials) And no, I have not needed to replace the velcro part in the slightest. Just a little care and they're good as new. Overall- SUPER impressed with the quality and strength of these boots. Yes, they may be a little expensive up front. But I guarantee you, mine have already paid for themselves by saving me money from the farrier. No longer will I pay $90+ for a full set of shoes every 6 weeks. Now I pay around $35 for a barefoot trim every 2 months! Do the math... Extra: These double as medicine boots and a "spare tire" if you are on trail and your horse throws a shoe! Lastly, no I was not given this product free for my review. I paid for them in full and am giving my absolute honest feedback. Happy trails!

Should've bought these ages ago
I was very doubtful about boots for my horse, as I'm a trail-rider who goes through a lot of different terrain, especially mud. I was also worried about what size to get as I heard fitting any brand of boots is crucial. I have gone on several rides now and they have worked great. They are easy to get on and off, the instructions were very clear about sizing, and after the first couple rides I stoopped looking down to see if they were still on. With regards to sizing: my horse has small feet, and yet when measuring them (and I happened to do it right after a trim), they were on the top end of the size. I chose not to go one size up (and trust me - I pondered this for ages!) and I'm glad I didn't. Her feet have grown in the last several weeks and they are still fitting. I've had NO rubbing issues and I've been able to gallop, go through some pretty muddy areas and no problems.

High quality 'spare tire' boot.
I am using this boot to help my mare recover from a bad sole bruise. It's great for keeping the poultice in and the foot fairly clean (a little mud does leak in), and it hasn't gotten sucked off in the mud. I think it will also help prevent her from getting additional bruising while she heals. My mare is a 15 hand QH, and her foot measurements were 4.5 in wide and just under 5 inches long and she wears a size 1. It fits just right with almost no room to spare, so if your hoof is bigger probably get a size 2. I can't tell yet how durable it is. I am not using it for trail riding, just for her turnout while she heals.

Flinging boots!
I had originally given these a better review, but after riding 200 miles in these, Iโve changed my mind. They work great... at the walk! Unfortunately once they get wet or muddy (completely unavoidable here in the PNW) they fly off at the trot or canter. Totally fine at the walk though. After many frustrating โfast ridesโ, I have lost a boot entirely. It flung out into the ferns and after several hours of searching I still cannot find it. The black color makes it hard to find out there in the dark woods. Other than that they provide a lot of traction, minimal rubbing and good drainage. Theyโve held up over the miles and my one remaining boot is in good repair. I would only recommend these if you are a walk rider or someone who rides in extremely dry areas.

Great boots, Had to return for different size
Love these boots for my horse that had his shoes removed. He is having trouble going barefoot with thin soles. I believe these are helping him be able to get some exercise with out limping. I watched the video on measuring but also sent a FB message to Cavallo to get their opinion on correct size (sent photos of tape measure on hoof). I am glad I did because my measurements were off. They said he was in between 2 and 3 Slim and recommended to try 3 Slim first. Those were not available on Amazon or Cavallo, so I ordered from SmartPak. One arrived several days later and we tried that on both front feet and determined it to be too big. Came to Amazon to order Size 2 which arrived in 2 days, before the second boot from SmartPak. Well, 2 was definitely too small because it would have to have been forced on. Tried 3 Slim back on and realized they were actually pretty good, just a tad big. Sent these back and waited for second boot from SmartPak. We broke them in for a few days and while I didnโt see improvement in my horseโs movement the first day, the second was much better. I ordered medium pastern wraps to make them fit just a bit more snug and am happy with that purchase too. So far these seem like a happy medium between shoes and barefoot. Will use these just for riding.

Good fit and stays on โฆ
Was more than pleased when these fit my boy right out of the box. A 20 minute hand walk to confirm there was no rubbing made it fantastic. We followed up with about a 4 to 5 mile ride the following day, also no issues, no twisting, Boot stayed on great, and no rubbing. They look good in and my gelding is happy on them. Pros: - Great fit, Stays on at walk, trot, lope. Good traction and reliable on all types of terrain, grass, gravel roads, dirt roads, climbing, water, mud, sand, and rocks. - While they are a little bulky, they seem to offer good protection all the way around. Cons: - After a few rides, the Trek material started to fray. - When going through tall, dry, grasses, everything sticks to the Velcro and is quite time consuming to clean out. - After the first month of stitching on the Velcro straps came apart, separating the logo fabric from the Velcro. - After the second month and less than 150 miles, the soles had worn so thin at the front end that they developed holes. - Not inexpensive. I reached out to Cavallo directly, they agreed that a one time warranty replacement repair was in order after receiving pictures and my information. Because the boots were purchased through Amazon, they indicated that I have to get the replacement pair directly from the seller here, waiting to hear if they will honor it. If they do, my rating, will go up as customer service is extremely important to me. The reason for three star rating is the durability seems to be low, unless I just got a lemon pair.

Trek Boots
I like these a lot. They are relatively easy to put on and off (compared to my old easy boots) and seem to hold up well. You get 2 sets of velcro which is nice, although the 1st is holding up well, so haven't had to use the 2nd. I have not had any problems with weeds or hay sticking in the velcro when trail riding. Make sure you order the correct size. I think this is the most difficult aspect, trying to figure out the correct size. I purchased a 1 after measuring numerous times, even getting 2nd opinions. They fit, but seem just a bit overly snug. I think the 2's may still have been too loose. It's a toss up. One other thing, if you haven't received an actual measuring chart from Cavallo, you need to know that printing one off the computer may not be the actual size, which would screw you up big time.

Size matters
Love this boot for my horses, however it would be really nice if they made their boots in 1/2 sizes. My horse wears a size one nicely, but only four about four weeks after his trimming then Need a size 1-1/2 because the a size two is sloppy on his hoof. Itโs a problem for me. I either hold off riding two weeks before his next trim or I need another brand of boot.

Really pleased overall with this boot
Fantastic durable quality but didn't get a replacement velcro strap which is a shame.

overall its doing its job as horse comfortable wearing it but expensive for how long it is going to last
I don't know what to say really about this boot: PROS - it stays on both in the field and when ridden, it is easy to clean, it is keeping his foot safe from further damage CONS - for the huge cost I don't think it is going to last very long?! he is wearing it for only a few hours each day and already within a week it has some rubber coming away at the edges and general fraying?! bit frustrating. Also I hadn't read the description I suppose but THIS IS ONE BOOT ONLY! I also found the fit wasn't great but his feet are a total mess and a shoe wasn't an option so its allowing us to continue until his foot has grown a bit

Excellent boots and long lasting
Excellent boots and long lasting. Easy to put on Although they do need to fit well if not they either come off or rub or both.
