My before pics were super grown out highlights that were done last November. I had to bleeeach my hair a total of 3 times to get it to level 9ish blonde. Hair broke off and I had to trim it twice. I used a toner and the gray/ silver color I got is amazing. 2 days later I mixed a few drops of Voodoo Blue with a ton of conditioner for a Blue/Silver look. I only left it on for 10 minutes... their blue colors are powerful!! Manic Panic is a really fun and inexpensive way to mix it up. Manic panic prides itself on being vegan. Their slogan is "we test on celebrities, not animals." **Q: Has anyone tried this turquoise color on dark brown hair? Thanks.** A: The turquoise is the most vibrant of the colors and it lasts the longest by far. You do not need to lighten darker hair but it will only tint over whatever color you have so if you want a bright turquoise result you'll need to lighten. I have ginger hair and I lighten my tips only and ombré the turquoise in. It's pretty easy to do. Just search you tube for bleach ombré tutorials. **Q: Is this permanent dye? How long does the color last, roughly?** A: It depends on your hair type, and how you treat your hair. For me, my colours last until I want to change them (roughly 3-6 months). If you blow dry your hair, or use styling products, or are in the sun frequently, the colour will last a shorter amount of time. If you want to extend the colour, wash in cold water (yeah, I know. eek!), avoid previously mentioned things, and add a little colour to your conditioner. If you need to get the colour out, you can wash in very warm water with a clarifying shampoo, a mixture of dawn soap and baking soda, or use a soap cap. (This involves a little bleach, so only do this if you really need to get it out.) **Q: I'm going for a light pink, what color would work best for dirty blonde? do i have to bleach it?** A: I would go with the cotton candy over this, if you want a light color. I have dirty blonde hair and I have never bleached or lightened it and I get great results from Manic Panic. Learn about exposed hair pigment, porosity and the color wheel and this will give you a perfect cool tonned siker/grey color. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Leave on longer and do a couple times *by H***R on August 23, 2020* (See Photo comparison) I bleached my hair with the Manic Panic kit available on Amazon before using Dark Star. I've been growing out my gray hair for a year and have about 4" of gray around my temples and right bangs, so I was hopeful that by lightening my hair and using this dark gray, the natural and colored gray would blend and look nice. (Note: I did not expect the natural grays to take color and they did not.) Per another review, I left my color on for 90 minutes. This is the result after 90 minutes. I highly recommend leaving it on as long as possible; my hair doesn't feel damaged at all and there was no burning scalp while the color set. You can see the brass has definitely toned (and I'm glad that the natural grays didn't turn purple like another review said) but I didn't get the even color like the other reviewer. Maybe if my hair was lighter, it might be more noticeable, but I think a second coat would be good. My hair is thin and fine and I used about 3/4 jar to cover my hair with a pretty thin coat. If you have thicker hair, I'd recommend getting 2 jars. 4/5 stars because my hair still feels healthy and the color clearly changed, but it didn't get me to the color I expected based on other photos in the reviews and listing.
