is this an ef mount lens? if it lists this, i missed it. the photo has a red dot, but i just want to confirm, thanks.

This lens will work on both full-frame and crop cameras. I have personally used it on the 7D and the 5D Mark III. Canon doesn't list it as either EF or EF-S, it's simply listed as "E" (as in MP-E) :-)

Question 2

Can anyone compare this lens to using extension tubes on a canon efs 18-55 mm macro 0.25m/0.8ft as this is what i've been doing for macro photography?

I do macro photography (catalog photography) on a regular bases.  Although using extension tubes is a suitable substitute in macro photography, the real problem is "ease of usage".  With a quick change of lens, my MP-E 65mm macro lens is ready to go for most general macro photos.... it is so much easier than using extension tubes.  I can achieve a full range of close-up to easily capture the image I am seeking.  Also, because it adjusts automatically, it is a no fuss answer to high quality Macro photography.  If you can't afford it or if you only occasionally do macro work, extension tubes are a less expensive option; still, they are more of a struggle to use.   I love my Canon MP-E 65mm  lens, it is my favorite of all lenses to use.

Question 3

How do you get dust out? I just received this lens today and as soon as I extended it all the way I can see a big piece of dust that I'm not able to wipe off.

If the dust is on the lens, you can blow it away with a blower, or clean with a lens cleaner. But, here's something to keep in mind. I also noticed a lot of dust when I used this camera. So I cleaned up the sensor and it is gone now.
