The colorful dial brightens up your day...
I always wanted an orange watch to wear on the days I don't have to dress up. Now, the COVID pandemic makes everyday such an occasion as we work from home most of the time. I checked online. First, I saw an orange Omega, which costs a fortune. Then, I checked Seiko Orange Monster, but it is also expensive since it has been discontinued in production (besides, I am not that crazed about the metal bezel of the Orange Monster). Finally, I found this new Seiko 5, which is an orange version of the famous Seiko SKX with black bezel and sunburst dial. I pulled the trigger right away. Compared to SKX, this new Seiko 5 has a number of improvements (hackable, hand-winding, etc.). And also, it has lug drills that make change of strap so easy. I already played with three straps: Nato, jubilee and the original oyster bracelet. Nato is the coolest looking one, but least comfortable. Jubilee is the most comfortable (resembling the old SKX), but looks a little dressy. The original bracelet is good, too, and seems to sit in between Nato and Jubilee. I really like this orange sunburst dial. It brightens up my day when I feel overwhelmed by work.

My Favorite Watch That I Don't Wear
Seiko has built another amazing watch this time around. I have two new ones and two vintage ones, and looking to expand my collection more. The orange looks great and is definitely attention getting. It keeps nearly as good of time as my quartz watches too. My Recraft Seiko gains 20 seconds or so a day. The fit is very comfortable. I had more of an issue getting a good fit on my Recraft. The watch case is a bit thick - not a comfort issue, but be careful when going through doorways and such. I think a careless person could beat this up pretty quickly. This, and the fear of getting it magnetized on my work laptop, are the reasons I don't wear it much, but only break it out occasionally. Same with my Recraft. If you're looking for a solid mechanical watch in this price range I don't think you'll do much better though.

Pretty darned good watch value for the money!
This series of Seikos has turned out to be a fairly impressive line of watches for the money. The "36" movement inside is a nice movement, isn't too loud, and keeps excellent time. It's not a Swiss Luxury Diver, but it's also approximately 1/10th the price and still nearly as good (from a time-keeping perspective). On this one, the Orange dial is really very nice in the sun. It has a very nice brushed sunray patterned finish which gives it a really nice glow without being obnoxious. It changes with the light is is quite attractive. Another big bonus - drilled lugs! Makes changing out the bracelet for various straps a cinch. You can change up the look of this thing in minutes. The bracelet is nothing special, and it along with it's clasp are probably the low points of this particular watch. It's not a horrible bracelet, but the stamped clasp and hollow links make for somewhat of an underwhelming feel to the bracelet. That said, buy a few straps in rubber, leather or nylon from Amazon and you can have a different strap (and higher quality) anytime you like! Overall, a very good watch for it's price and punches above it's price point for sure. Overall the quality is good (it's a Seiko after all). The packaging is appropriate for the price (just a simple small cardboard box/case with a small vinyl pillow inside), but not something you'd consider a display box or even "fancy". The entire proposition of this series of watches is just quite good. Looks good, wears well, keeps very good time, is an automatic mechanical watch with day/date, easy to change bracelet....all from a reputable brand. Don't expect it to directly compete with a $2K-$5K diver, but do expect it to come closer than you'd think based on it's price!

Great Seiko Quality At A Great Price
Typically, I buy a Casio sport watch and wear it until it dies and then I buy another. Mechanical watches just seemed pointless or pretentious because quartz movements are just so accurate for essentially what amounts to as coffee money. However, my latest Casio diver for some reason irritated the skin on my wrist so, on an impulse I bought this watch (primarily because it has an orange face). By way of background I had a superb Seiko diver forty-five years ago that I still miss. Anyway, this is a long way of saying I couldn't be happier with my new Seiko. It keeps perfect time, doesn't irritate my skin and has a fun display back. It came with a good bracelet which I like a lot, but I also bought an Alpine silicone strap that is so comfortable that ordered another in a different color. Great watch!

Amazing watch
I was honestly pretty hesitant to buy an automatic watch. However after weeks of research I came across this watch and knew I had to have it. It wears well, keeps great time for an auto, and has the ability to second hack which was a huge deciding factor for me. It is a bit large so if you have smaller wrists you might want to take that into consideration. The only thing I wish this watch had would be a sapphire crystal. Aside from that, it's perfect for every day wear.

Nice sunburst Seiko watch

Genuine and well rounded watch which wears well on the wrist. Looks a treat in the dial style and vibrant colour. Just can't go past the 5 series for quality and wearability.

Beautiful orange dial, great sunburst effect, crisp lumed hands and embassy's. I removed the bracelet and replaced it with a black silicone and stitched orange threading. I gotta say looks much better than that stainless steel strap it came with. This is my first intro into the mechanical watch hobby, and I love this Seiko 5 sports watch with the Orange dial. Such a beautiful design!
