**Q: Help! bought the blueair filter 200/300 hepa filter for a relative with asthma. no install directions? and what good is it she has the regular filter**
A: The thin carbon filter goes between the normal particle filter and the door.  Just lay it in and close the door. ... Can't comment on benefit for Asthma.

**Q: How do you install this?**
A: It fits between the back of the filter and the mesh on the door.  I tried to fit it in front of the filter first, but the filter wouldn't fit behind it.  It seemed odd because the carbon filter for the air cleaner is on the inside part of the filter.

**Q: How long before you replac them?**
A: Depends how dirty they are. Not sure if is washable. I guess I will keep it until I need to replace the main one which is every 6 months

**Q: Does using this void the warranty?**
A: The carbon filter is an option for the Blueair 200 series purifiers.  From page 7 of the manual:  Optional carbon filter. Includes a filter with active carbon to remove gaseous pollutants such as cigarette and cigar smoke or other VOCs (volatile organic compounds, including household paints and other chemicals). You may notice a slight odor from the active carbon when the filter is first used; this will quickly dissipate.

I've had my Blueair 200 series for a few years. I take in house clean air pretty seriously. I had a feeling this product was a bad knock off. Truth be told the material appears to be higher quality. I'm a week in on the purchase and believe the product to be a good investment. So far I won't be going back to the 2.5x more expensive OEM filters. Blueair, love your products but it's about time capitalism created some competition for ya. You have airline prices on your filters!!!

The material covers all of the filter opening, mine was sliding down but I just tucked the carbon pre filter under the little tab at the bottom of the white filter. That holds it in place nicely. This is a pre-filter (before the main filter) unlike the BlueAir brand filters that have the carbon filter built in which are post or after the main filter (closer to the fan) I'm not sure if the location of the carbon filter will make a big difference or not to how effective it is.

Alaska had a very severe fire season this year! The air quality in our area was very poor. When winter came, and the fires were pretty much out, I changed out the old Blueair 200/300 air filter with a new one. The old filter was filthy! That told me the filter was working properly.
