I know this might be a crazy question, but i'm looking to find a 2-inch ball for my small-to-medium-size dog. will this work? will it bounce?

This is a very soft ball intended for hand exercises. It doesn't bounce and I think a dog would chew this ball in pieces in a matter of minutes. I have three medium size dogs and would never consider this ball a suitable toy for them.

is this a standard size ball or the large? I am looking for the standard size

The blue ball that I ordered is about 2-inches in diameter, it is firm but soft, fits comfortably in hand. I suppose it is the standard size ball.

What's the difference between the old version and the new version?

I don't know but I threw my therapeutic ball away. It was sticky and everything stuck to it. I even washed it but it was still gross feeling. Keep looking for a different ball. This one sucks!! What a waste of money!!!
