You do have to use buttermilk or else it will not turn out the same, but when you do it's fantastic. One major issue I had with the powder is that it says to use only a few tablespoons for a batch, I found that using only that amount the ranch really lacked the POW needed. I upped the amount of powder and get the desired taste I was looking for. That will defiantly affect the "value for the money" aspect of this mix, but I do still think it's worth the cost.
