This is a very simple, but HIGHLY useful book!! This book is filled with "descriptive words of products & services" that will assist you in selling. But more than that, this book is a huge time-saver!! I sell antiques on eBay, and having proven-to-sell words to describe products is wonderful! There aren't any new earth-shattering descriptive words in this book, but having them all at your fingertips and arranged in an easy-to-find way, is invaluable. This Book is a Copywriting Hand Grenade
That's about the only way I can sum up how awesome and powerful this book is for writing web copy that sells. Richard Bayan successfully organizes over six thousand synonyms and useful phrases into one slim book, which has never left my desk since I bought it. What I love about this book is that it's much more than just a thesaurus, it contains a variety of useful phrases that work beautifully with basic copywriting strategies. The fundamentals of writing sales copy is simple: Grab their attention, build desire, create a sense of urgency, and call them to action. This book is a perfect complement to copywriting guides because it offers countless suggestions on how to word each step of your sales writing. Some of the more original inclusions in the book include the section on justifying a high product or service price, and how to flatter the reader. While some of the suggestions (benefits, call to action, elmininating risk) are quite common, you'll no doubt find phrases that make you say, "Why didn't I think of that before?" Buy the book today, and you'll also tell yourself, "I can't believe I've been missing out on this."

A Handy Reference for Copywriters
This is a far less traditional book than what I typically read and review. This is more of a source or reference guide for copywriters. The book starts with a "crash course" on copywriting that contains sections of; what you need to know before you write, things to keep in mind when you write, and there's a section describing different categories of copy. There's also a brief "how to use this book" section. The book is more like a dictionary or thesaurus. It is filled with phrases and words that fit into four different sections. The four parts are as follows; Part I - Grabbers - This is about getting the attention of the readers. Part II - Descriptions and Benefits - This section is about conveying the value of your product or service. Part III - Clinchers - This is all about closing the sale. Part IV - Special Strategies - Here we find some extra material on building brand image, knocking the alternatives, selling yourself, and a few other strategies. This book serves as a great reference for anyone doing any sort of copywriting but also for bloggers, marketers, or any kind of writer for that matter. It offers a bevy of alternative words to convey a message and also contains sections on misused or misspelled words. I'd love for everyone to learn the difference between there, their, and they're as it's like fingernails on a chalkboard when I see these misused with such regularity on social media! The first edition of this book was published in 1984 and this second edition hit the market in 2006. Amazon reviewers give this one a 4.5 after 322 reviews. This book is an excellent addition to your tools for selling

Watch out: Gmail has read this book!
So, this is a good book. But if you're doing EMAIL communications, proceed with caution. I work for a coach and I was sending out reminders for a training that people had signed up for. Training reminder one: No tweaking of vocabulary, and the reminder landed in my inbox. Reminder two: I added a phrase from this book, nothing more nothing less, and the reminder email landed in my promotions folder, basically a marketing wasteland ... since then I've noticed this trend with other emails I receive.

Good reference for marketing
I use this a lot for writing copy and product descriptions. It's helpful when you feel like you've been overusing words, like a thesaurus for specific use. The book I got was bound and cut a bit wonky but still usable.

Time-saver
You know what it's like trying to squeeze out another way to express yourself convincingly without repeating yourself or resorting to over-used cliches. This is a wonderful, almost indispensable resource with thousands of proven effective words and phrases for your sales letters, website copy, mail advertising, (even personal letters, i suppose). Even just reading it cover to cover will give you great ideas and breakthroughs. It has saved me a lot of time and frustration, and has definitely paid for itself a hundred times over.
