It can be difficult to find the ideal notebook for early writing practice, but this one works nicely. This notebook has been in use for a few weeks by my child, who is just beginning to learn how to write. Letter formation may be guided by the solid and dotted line arrangement, and I've seen how much it boosts my child's confidence as they practice. The notebook's portability and light weight make it ideal for taking to school or other events. Other starter notebooks, in my experience, tend to be larger, which might be inconvenient. This one finds an excellent mix between being lightweight enough to carry around and robust enough for frequent use. The size is also good for smaller hands. It’s compact enough to fit into a backpack without taking up too much space, but it still offers plenty of room on each page for writing and drawing. Other notebooks we’ve used often had too small or too large ruling, making them frustrating for early writers. This one strikes a good balance. If there’s one downside, it’s that the pages aren’t as thick as I’d like. If my child presses too hard with a pencil, the writing sometimes shows through to the other side.
