Overview The AIRPLATE A3 is a 16 by 16 cm metal grille that can be installed into cabinets and walls to help increase ventilation. It can also be used in conjunction with a fan system to act as a passive intake or exhaust vent. The kit includes an optional 120mm fan guard and hardware to secure a 120mm fan, the most popular size for computers and DIY applications, onto the grille. To mount your fan and grille into your cabinet or wall, you would need to cut a square hole approximately 12.7 by 12.7 cm. Features a CNC machined aluminum frame with a brushed black finish; pre secured to a steel honeycomb grille with four screws. Information on the additional included hardware can be found below Hardware Includes four wood screws and four machine screws with nuts to mount the ventilation grille onto a cabinet or wall. Also includes four 3.2 cm long machine screws with nuts to mount a 120 mm fan with the included 120mm fan guard onto the ventilation grille.

Great fan guard, but one small issue.
I bought this for my daughter’s new computer, there was a fan the wires would brush up against. It fit the look of the computer and tied into the overall look we were going for.The only issue is the mounting holes, they are larger than the standard fan mounting screw heads. Some black oxide washers bought from the local hardware store fixed the problem and are not even noticeable (clear sided case).

The 'mesh' is a little rough in a couple of places where it was "stamped and formed" but all in all good. For me

For me, in my home theater, it was a good fit. I really appreciated the fan grill and extra nuts/bolts ... pushed it to 5 stars. Well done!Be aware, this is a nice looking, functional piece of kit; however, I would not call it elegant. i.e. if I installed it in a visible place in the living room, my wife would have a few words for me.

I bought a couple of these to build a two-way radio stand that included a fan. It allows the radio to sit up off the desk with enough room for a fan under to to blow on the heatsink of the radio.It worked just as expected. It seemed to be well built and strong enough to actually be a structural part of the stand itself. It included all of the necessary hardware. It's been a while, but I think it actually contained two sets of the necessary screws rather than just one, which was nice.If I ever decide to built anything else that needs a fan mounted to a surface, I would not hesitate to buy these again.
