In checked bags, any aerosol sprayed on the body is allowed. **Q: Is this product most effective when applied directly to skin under makeup, or is it supposed to be applied on top of facial makeup?** A: I would NOT apply it under make-up. If I had to choose between the two, I would put it on over the make-up. HOWEVER...the make-up may affect the effectiveness of the product AND the product may affect the performance of the make-up as well. The better option is to apply the Deet to an article of clothing or wearable accessories on or near the area where you are using make-up. I usually use it on a hat, or sweat-band, shoulder area of clothing, etc. Be careful using it on clothing as it can stain the area sprayed on. A little dab will do ya. Mosquitoes, flies, even stupid box elder bugs stay away with this stuff. While they don't sting or bit, they definitely are creepy. Putting their little hands where they really don't belong! Dangerous? I'll give up a few tomorrows, probably when I'm old and infirm (er). So, okay. For a few summers without bugbites and creepouts. Besides, who knows what those things which bite might carry. Fair deal. If you want to try organic stuff that doesn't work, or whatever it is that is passing for ecco, healthy, or whatnot. Go for it. When you get tired of fail, this is the way. They say 30% is good. If you want to keep reapplying, go that way. I like once or twice and done, for a whole day, not four or five or six times.
