Bayou Classic 1140 Stainless 10-Gallon Steam Boil Stockpot with Spigot Basket and Vented Lid

I ordered this after a long search online for a well priced BIAB vessel that I could use with my 3500w induction burner. This kettle is NOT listed as induction capable, however in home brewing forums there are others who have ordered this kettle and had successful results, so I decided to give it a try. The kettle is NOT magnetic, however it works wonderfully with my induction burner. The ball valve (like others have said) had some oil/residue on it from the factory, but I cleaned it, boiled it, and after a PBW soak it had no residue or smell. I passivated the kettle and hooked up the ball valve easily thanks to the included set of tools. My first batch went very well. The included basket is excellent for BIAB, I just put my bag in there and the metal handle helps make lifting the heavy grains out after mashing (will be even better once I hook up a pulley system.) I plan to take great care of this vessel but if I ever do need to replace it, Bayou Classic will be where I look.

I have used it a few times since purchasing and it serves it's purpose well. The large size was perfect for frying a large turkey and the basket fits enough food for a good sized boil. Food came out great and clean up is simple. The addition of the spout really makes it easy. Very sturdy/durable, quality product.

I bought this kettle to brew beer in and it works great! I do BIAB and loved the basket and spigot for brewing. It's a well made kettle that should hold up and perform well for years to come. Great product for the price!

Would be five stars if it wasn't for that nasty gas smell coming from the spigot! I figured out it was the threaded tube that attaches the nuts to the spigot. That thing was grey inside and i boiled it three times and washed it with dawn. (Yes, the soap that gets BP oil off of wildlife) it still didn't totally come off so I finally sanded the inside of the tube until all the grey stuff was gone and only steel was showing. Anyone who has bought this should not make beer or cool anything until that stuff is off. It will leech into your beer or soup or whatever you make. Best way to test if it's still bad is run boiling water through it and pour a little into a cup and smell. If it's still awful keep cleaning that tube. I think that part is the culprit.

Ordered two of these to use as BIAB Kettles for home brewing. Perfect for 5 gallon batches. The steam basket supports my nylon bag for mashing. The basket rests on an indented ring at the top of the kettle. There is a 3 and 3/8" gap between the bottom of the kettle and bottom of the steamer basket. I recommend buying a hose barb to go at the end of the ball valve so that you can connect a hose for draining. -- Update 3/5/2020: I have two of these now. I am still using them for brewing. No issues. Still recommend.

bought it for clam and lobster steaming, works great. i also had no problem with machine oil or smell reported in other reviews. i washed everything with dawn dish soap when i unpacked it and it was ready to use.

I bought this for my homebrew set up and Just received it this morning, so far I am very pleased with it, spigot is of good quality, whole pot lid and basket are of much better quality than my other pots and I was pleasantly surprised to find it was parked for measurement on the inside.... even came with wrenches for spigot.... if my opinion changes after I get around to using it I will update otherwise I'm very happy with it!!!
