Does box have a 'date made' on it? any way to tell if these are old or new/fresh? what is shelf life for unopened sharpies (several years?)

I have thrown the box away but I don't recall seeing any dates. Perhaps the seller has this info either on the carton or on the bill/statement of transaction.

Why did i have to use a pair of pliers to get cap off fine point end of sharpie twin tip? and why didn't it write after repeated attempts?

I have had no problem with the ones I got. I like the different caps because they ID the Fine point Verses the Medium point.
