**Q: It is rechargeable?**
A: It uses a AAA battery. They supply the battery, and a Phillips head screw driver for access to the battery compartment.

**Q: Where is it made?**
A: I can’t find a country of origin anywhere on the product or the documentation. It’s well made, though. Sturdy.

**Q: Why thermoprotherm. stopped working aft. abt 3 months? displayshows 0s. no diff. >changed battery.  (ironic (funny?)  just sent 12 for fam./friends))**
A: Mine stopped reading about 18 months after purchase. I called Thermpro and the customer service rep sent me a new one. It arrived a few days later and has been working well for at least 6 months. Great thermometer, good value, and excellent product support.

**Q: Is it truly “instant” read? If not, how long do I have to hold it over the food to get an accurate reading?**
A: It is very fast, but you don't hold if over, but rather inside the food for actual contact. Then, it's less than a second.
