Good value.
I buy this to put on my boarders as a mulch. Works a treat. It protects my tender plants over winter. Good quality straw with little dust. Good value.

Update: no longer issue with heavy rocks. 5 stars. Clean Long Stems (Rabbit Owner)
UPDATE. Have now bought another bale. The straw is still excellent quality and does not sour when stored. I’ve upgraded to 5 stars as this batch did not contain heavy rocks and represents far better value for money now. Good Points. Arrived next day. We live in the country and it has been a difficult year for harvesting so my local farm supply shop were out of straw bales when I needed to buy one. Good quality straw (long cut and no sour odour). Downside. The bale does have some very large rocks in (never had this before) so will affect weight to cost ratio hence 4 star not 5.

Great
Have ordered many bales and they've all been great, ship them to a friend who's caring for our chickens. Of course it's expensive for straw but that's the cost of having a bale shipped around rather than grabbing one locally. It's always been great quality and no nasty surprises. Very happy

Nicely packed bale, some large rocks, easy to unpack.
Good value for money, but did contain some large rocks (see video & photo) although I have so far only unpacked about 1/5th of the bale so far so don’t know how many more I may find. Nice long strands, great for animal bedding or crafting. Nice and dry, with a natural smell. Despite the rocks, I would recommend for those that keep or breed animals.

expensive but fair due to shipping
So you could get bales like this for more like 5 quid if you can find a local farm who's willing, but it's hard to source where i am, i don't think they're ripping us off though, it's just the logistics and time of packaging such a large item. i bought it too mulch large areas, grow potatoes under it, and give my compost heap a boost at the end of the season just be aware it does have a large amount of seed (or at-least the batches i had), but the straw is very easy to pick out as it grows and at-least in months feb-now late April, slow growing, only about now is it starting to make roots it's otherwise very clean, nice smelling, beautiful material (when dry), i think I'll re-think the idea of using it as a mulch for paths etc at this price and move to wood chip if i can source it that said, i see this as a benefit, i will likely order another bale or two too cover my beds in the autumn and have the benefit of both a cover crop and a mulch too keep the beds subdued till the spring. also if you keep chickens they'll the extra things too munch on all that said it's the best value i can find on amazon for this type of material

Gareth NOT Bale
Blooming marvellous!! One bale was enough to protect all of my netted beds at the allotment & the birds used the rest in their nests :) Lovely straw, clean, mature, ideal.. I'll be back in late Autumn to buy more!
