Good supplement
I use this workbook to supplement my son's homework. Great review for lessons he learned in school. Especially in math. Good practice pages. I just wish that there were 1-2 more pages of practice for each math topic. That's where Khan academy really helps. The reading passages were really interesting for my son. And most of the time the questions were a little more thought provoking than other supplements I have used. For the grammar section, even though I can explain the parts of the speech, it would have been helpful to explain them and give examples so my son could figure it out by himself. Overall, this workbook is good to supplement his classwork.

Can't Go Wrong With This!
Amazed at the assignments and level of academics for fifth grade. No watered down projects as with some of the public schools. These assignments put, or keep your kids at the level they should be as well as give them the tools and encouragement to forge ahead.

Great idea, poorly executed.
My daughter is going into 5th grade in the fall. We got this workbook to introduce her to some new concepts over the summer, and to have her get an idea of what is coming and keep her skills sharp over the break. It does that satisfactorily. My issue with it is it seems to have been poorly edited. I have found several mistakes, some even in the examples. I don't think I'm being overly critical when I say that I think the examples in your math workbook have to make sense or good luck to the poor child trying to learn the lesson. Once I found the typos, we were able to explain the concepts to my daughter and move on, but should I have to do that? As a parent, I'm happy to work with her, but I didn't take it on myself to publish a workbook. It feels like there may be some responsibility to make sure the math in your workbook is right? As for the language arts section, I have no complaints other than the material seems pretty dry, but it always did for me anyway. If you want to get this for your child, I don't think it's a bad product, but keep your eyes open.
